Besides Temple of the Dog, what PJ side projects (by band members other than Eddie Vedder) are truly good? I'd listened to a Brad album but wasn't really feeling it. What are the other side projects by the current band members?

Mad Season's Above is one of the best albums ever, side project or no. It's Mike playing with Layne Staley and some of the guys from Screaming Trees.

Which Brad album were you listening too? I have Welcome To Discovery Park, and I love it. Never listened to any others though.

And yes, Mad Season is a must have!

i like all of Brad's records---esp Welcome to Discovery Park. the only side project that i never really liked was Three Fish. i liked a couple of their songs, but the rest wasn't for me. Wellwater Conspiracy are great & as stated earlier, Madseason's "Above" is amazing.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

  • You gotta check out Mad season at the Moore Theater and play Mad Season's Above on vinyl! One Of my favorite albums of all time-side project or not- its amazing. Really showcases Layne's vocals and Mike plays guitar alot different than with PJ.

Mad season is definitely a must have. "Wake up" nis one of the most personal, sorrowful yet beautiful songs ever written. One of my top 10 easily. My god man, Layne bared his soul on that track it is so haunting. What's really freaky is that on the morning of April 5th (2 days ago) I'm going to work, and that song pops up on my ipod. creepy.

Bayleaf (Stone's solo record) is really good too. Pretty mellow though, but it's amazing. I like Stone songong though, I know some people don't like him as a vocalist, but if you do, check it out.

Mad Season is the best one by far.

anything by the Wellwater Conspiracy (Matt) is good too.

my fave right now is the Jack Irons solo album (Attention Dimension) - not a side project i know, but Ed, Stone, Jeff, Flea, Les Claypool, Natasha Schneider and Alain Johainnes all appear on it - and the music is great. Weird, but great.

Mad Season is an amazing album. It's my favourite Layne Staley record by far. The Rockfords (Mike's side project) album is pretty good and I've been a Brad fan since 'Shame'. It took me a few listens to really appreciate Jeff's solo record it but I love it now.

I'd kind of forgotten about Mad Season. That's one of those albums I always intended to get. It came out in 1995 which was possibly the greatest year for rock music in my adult life, so it was easily overlooked. I may have to pick up a cd. Thanks for all of the suggestions. I feel like I should be giving some attention to these other side projects.

Mad Season is amazing, yes. I personally enjoyed Three Fish and Tone. I'm a big Jeff fan though...and my musical taste can at times be a little eclectic...I can generally find something I like in almost any music...unless your Nickelback...or this new lousy clubbin' shit that they call rap!

Never listened to much Brad, but would like to. Harrybu McCage is interesting, if you like jazz music it'll be easier to grasp I think. Wellwater Conspiracy is damn cool from what I've heard. into The Wild is good too. Some of the songs are shorter than I'd like them to be, but good. Never listened to The Rockfords either...
