How did you like the whole "bracelet thing" this last tour? I thought it was an awesome idea and sitting in line after the show for 15 minutes or so was a hell of a lot better than haveing to keep looking after your poster all night and worrying about spilling beer on it or getting a seed hole in it (or someone crushing or stealing it!)

I hope they do this for all the shows from now on!!

what do you think?

seemed to work the best out of any system i've seen!

aside from the ppl at ga shows who went to get a poster then still felt like they should get their "saved" spot front row...
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

  • Yea, I def liked the system better.

system was fine, but I think from now on I will buy my posters through the 10C, instead of hassling with it at the show...especially when I'm traveling.

    you bet!
    i would LOVE that system!

of course, especially now with 10c tix shut-outs sadly becoming more and more the norm.....it certainly can't be the ONLY way. so the bracelet system is fantastic. quite honestly, ALL the changes 10c has made in regards to posters, 10c tix, ALL good! i thought that 10c really listened and made changes for the better to benefit us all. 8-)
    Stay with me...

If they do that, the value of the posters will go down because there will be thousands of people with a poster from one particular show.

Im with you. But then if you think Ebay is flooded with flippers now. God, imagine if they made thousands of prints for one show?

  • By pre-ordering with your tickets, it would actually benefit the artists who create the poster to help forecast the demand, thus avoiding initial overages and shortages. Perhaps some of the uglier prints would be worth more in the secondary market because the supply of them would be smaller. In the long run, the person who picked up the ugly print, just because they wanted the poster of the show they went to, would be rewarded with a sound art investment also.

It would be double the fun if you are allowed to pre-order with your tickets and not know what the design is going to be. The artist could reserve his better prints for the smaller runs and really reward the people who blindly pre-order!

i love the new way... worked great at the Vic

although i usually skip the poster and just tailgate longer at other shows

ebay would not be flooded if there were thousands of prints... because most flippers know that the resale value wouldn't be the same

but if the print sucked then the artist/10c would have quite an inventory of leftovers

It worked really, really well at Camden for both nights. I got a bracelet without stressing, getting in early/beelining for the merch stand.

At the end, the line moved very smoothly.

    A+

Exactly, in 03 I got in pretty early. But when I got to the merchandise stands, there were no posters. That sucked.

At Hartford '08 I saw a couple people put their fingers around their wrists when the bracelet was being put on.

My first thought was that they wanted it looser so they could take it off, and go to a different merch booth and buy another print.

But then when I got my bracelet put on, it was kinda of tight.

So am I just crazy thinking that I saw flippers? Or was it that they were fans that had been to different shows an realized how tight they are put on?

I liked it and it was less of a chance of my poster getting crushed during the show. I would love to be able to get it with the purchase fo my ticket though, like add it to cart or whatever especially when I travel for a show. My WPB poster got destroyed last tour in transit.
Thats a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?

  • Yea, I hate having to go in extra early now. I prefer to tailgate longer. But the system is good. In Cmaden, I walked in after 8pm and still got that poster. Wasnt that lucky at Mansfield. GOt one at MSG because they were sold outside the venue. They way they did it MSG was a debacle. Somebody was recruiting crack heads off the street to get them poster. Maybe it was Ninersfan.

Yeah, I hate having to go in earlier too. I like to tailgate longer as well. The missing out on a poster thing makes me so anxious - it's always kind of a buzzkill for anyone with me. When I didn't get a poster at one show though, I really was heartbroken (my coolest friend ever bought it for my birthday off ebay from a flipper for way too much money - but man i love her for it). I know I'm a freak. I'm not even a huge collector - I just want one from every show I've been too.

The bracelet thing was pretty crazy at MSG08 AFTER the show, but it was so cool to be able to go and get the bracelet, and then head out to the bar for an hour or so. Hartford was smooth; or so I hear, because my husband did all the dirty work (ie. going in early and picking it up) for me. Man, how did I get so lucky :) ?

I tend to just try and get posters to only the shows I go to as well. There are exceptions. For example, when I saw the Klausen DC 06 reaper poster, I had to get. I just got it framed and it looks AMAZING!!! Sometimes I dont even go in early now. I wait for when the Ten Club sells it. It is a serious buzzkill having to worry about the poster.

i liked the bracelet system a lot better than having to hold the poster all night.

i don't mind going in early either and missing some tailgating to get a poster. there's more perks to getting in early than just a poster! it seems to me like PJ tries hard to get solid opening acts, so if i wasn't getting in there early, i may have missed bands like Kings of Leon, Supergrass, Sonic Youth, MMJ, etc. :D
