Listened to Binaural with the Bose headphones the other day and was amazed at how great it is. Haven't listened to it in a long time and I usually rank it at the bottom of the albums. Now I am not so sure. Matt's best drumming studio-wise.
Also, been listening to 2000 boots and think they sound the best by far. The tightest they were as a band. Matt needs to switch back to the Ayottes. I've been saying this for years; they sound so much better and clearer/warmer. His drumming on them sounds so much more intricate and complex.
Any thoughts?

Been saying this myself too. Good to see someone else thinks the same. Binaural is one of my favourite albums that i own, and i wish they played it much much more. Was so stoked to hear God's Dice in 08
Matt's drum sound is just insaaaaaanely good on the 2000 tour, i love it so much. The Yamaha just doesn't have the cool thudiness and that Soundgarden sound.
The NA bootlegs are quite nice too even though many consider them as 'flat'

"Rival" and "Sleight of Hand" really grabbed me during the Cinncinnati show.
Watching them perform these two songs live was like being smacked in the head with a hammer; all of a sudden these songs instantly became my favorite songs in the world.
Pretty amazing how a live version of a song can completley break the clouds and give you an entirly new perspective on an album.
I probably play the Cinncinnati bootleg the most of any show that I have on record. It is by no means the best show they've ever played, or the best show that I've been to...but for some reason it's the show that brings back the most vivid memories. It was a beautiful summer evening @ Riverbend w/ a full moon in all it's summer glory. I can still remember what the air smelled like, and what the people around me looked like. I can close my eyes and remember every moment of this show as if it was happening right now. It was like my 10th time seeing the band...but for some reason it felt like the first time.
This bootleg holds a very special place in my heart. I think it was for this exact purpose that the band decided to release these shows to the fans. The members of Pearl Jam are obviously huge music fans themselves, and it's obvious that this feeling was the intention behind the release all 72 of these shows. These CD's are like a digital time machine.

I had the pleasure of getting to see them both nights in Seattle, the first night the crowd was flat and they seemed bit annoyed at times "Boise was better than you" was a great quote. However night II ROCKED#!
I thought the world...Turns out the world thought me
seriously though..Binaural is my 2nd fav PJ album only behind No Code!!those who still rate it at the bottom just haven't "found" it yet!
and as far as the 2000 boots go 6/16/00 - Katowice, Poland is the best IMO..if only Ed didn't fuck up Release!!

Why not (V) (°,,,,°) (V) ?
I was at vancouver 2000 and the last 4 shows of the tour (portland, boise, and the two seattle shows).
I think the Boise show was the best show I saw on that tour.. even better than seattle II. Its my 2nd favorite show out of all the pj shows I've ever seen (with gorge 05 as my #1).
Boise was pretty underrated I think. The crowd was insane! Seattle II felt to me like they were trying to duplicate Boise
To be honest, I never liked Binaural all that much, and its only recently that I'm starting to appreciate it. That album needed to percolate with me for a while, I guess. I really like Thin Air and Parting Ways and I think Rival has a very different sound to it, which I like.
Can i co-host please?
can't wait for the next tour!!!
As for the 2000 tour, definitely the tightest they have been as a band and the happiest they hav looked as a band. Sadly I had not discovered PJ back then, but a couple of years later I found them and they changed my life forever. I don't care if that sounds cliche', because they fucking did!

The Ayotte's sounded amazing, particularely the snare. That snare is one of the best sounding snares Ive ever heard, like a damn bomb dropping. His new snare is also a keplinger, but it HAS to be a different one, because it just sucks.
On the MTV Ten special, when they show stone talking on the couch I noticed his old Ayotte kit in the background all mic'd and set up. Maybe he DID switch back....i hope so, but doubt it.

And Binaural is a completely brilliant, underrated album.
The only show I went to was the Ice Bowl....

Thats so true! When I saw Insignificance live I was amazed by how...powerful...it was hearing it in person.
So damn chill. Katowice is my favorite bootleg ever. It's the first I listened to begining to end before I ever went to a concert and even though I've heard many since, it still is my favorite. It is just amazing, and I'm Polish, too!
I like the Europe bootlegs better but I do like some of the North america shows too. Best show I saw of those 4 was the last night of the tour, seemed like they played forever. It was amazing.
