Hey oh AET

This June I'll be doing the MS 150. Which is a 2 day bike ride in support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (Minnesota Chapter) So that means I get to ride my bicycle for 75 miles 2 days in a row! My ass is going to be sore!

Anyway, my extended family has been doing the ride for some time because my cousin has MS. And this year some of my friends decided to have a team, so I figured it was about damn time I joined in on the fun.

I have a personal 'pledge' goal of $300. So if anyone is willing to help out, be it $5, $10, or whatever it would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

That is the link to my personal page, and you can donate online, even better!

Oh and Kat/Sea if this isn't cool just let me know.

Thanks!

Matthew

    Bump!

    And an update.

So I've gone on like 2 training rides so far. Boy oh boy am I out of shape!!

I just got back from an 8 mile bike ride. Which doesn't seem that far, but its semi-hilly around here, and I averaged about 14 MPH. Which isn't that bad seeing as how its been a couple years since I've really done any biking.

Oh and taking right hand turns with your right foot pedal down is dangerous! I almost wiped out!!! I don't need any road rash!

And thanks again to everyone that has donated so far, maybe I can get some more of you to help me out! :D

This an awesome event that you're participating in and for a good cause. My lady has a friend that has MS whom she's training back to better health. I myself have participated in 3 Washington DC AIDS Ride from Raleigh NC to DC 350 miles in 4 days. It was the best thing I ever volunteered for and I was able to raise over $11,000 on my 3 rides.

You maybe be sore but the emotion and excitement of completing such a ride will put aside any pain you may feel. Keep us updated on your training rides, continue with short rides, build your strength up and master those hills. The rest will come easy, oh I'll donate something later.

    Peace

Thanks for the encouragement G under P!!!

I've done plenty of biking in the past, just that its been like 6 years! I'm not a young buck anymore!

Anyway, so I went for another ride today. Went 15 miles, and funny thing, I noticed when I got home yesterday that my front break was rubbing against the wheel a little bit!

Not to bad, but after I fixed that today I defenitaly noticed the difference. A little smoother ride!

It was a little windy today, so going into the wind wasn't much fun, but when the wind was at my back, nice and fast!

I think we need a biking thread where we talk about training/bikes/whatever! I can make a new one, or we could just use this one. What doe you think fellow AET'ers?

I love talking about bikes & cycling. I think we need a new thread to make clear the subject matter.

Let's go with this one until your ride is completed. I was talking about my AIDS Ride today and how people came together as ONE and completely looked out for each other. I so wished people outside of those rides could treat peeps with some respect. If we just Stay Human more often now that would so nice.

On Sundays mornings for 1 hour I have a cycling class with my lady and it's intense. It gets better when our instructer plays some Pearl Jam or songs I like to get through the BURN.

Or better yet try Chamois Cream - works wonders. I use Assos (the name is so appropriate), but there are others such as Butt Butter, Udder Butter, and there are lots others.
