About an hour ago, the Hornby Island eagle cam had chainsaws, loud music, and the sounds of building seemingly bothering Mrs. Eagle....so I called the Ministry of the Environment, and was told that "that noise has been going on for years. The eagles are used to it. It's private property and we can't do anything about it". I reminded her that eagles are protected in BC and that between January and August 31st there can be no "excess noise or building activity" happening within 100metres of the nest. Again she said that it was private property. Told her that most nests are now on private property and other areas have successfully halted developments or construction noise happening with the 100m buffer. Doesn't matter if it's private property. She seemed quite unwilling to do anything. So I had the eagle cam on my computer with the chainsaw blaring away...and she sighed and said that she'd call the Environmental officer to looking into. Then she said, "these damn eagle cams..."

Anyway, the Sidney one is pretty cool...and relatively quiet...The eagles near our house, although without a camera, have something in their next cuz there's always and eagle in it...last year they had two eaglets, as they did the year before and the year before that...

Anyway PJ people - check out these cams if you can..they can be quite entertaining... :D
