Why all these shootings?

Some guy here in Pittsburgh killed three cops and wounded 2 others this morning. Unfortunately this scumbag didn't take himself out. So why all these random shootings lately? I know it's something that happens everyday but there has been a spike in guys shooting multiple innocent people lately. Is it the economy or something or just crazy assholes who shouldn't have guns? The AP is saying the guy from this morning "recently had been upset about losing his job and that he feared President Barack Obama’s administration was poised to ban guns." Fucking gun nuts. If they're so in love with their gun why don't they just use it on themselves?

some do use it on themselves and others don't. I think its a couple things. People are freaking out right now and don't know whats going on in the country/world. Also, its the change of seasons, people always get loopy this time of year. I remember back in school as soon as it started getting warmer there would be more and more fights in the hallways.

Also, I wouldn't put it passed the Obama camp to try and get some gun bans on the books. Cuz you know 90% of the guns used in Mexican Cartels are US guns  ....

This administration is taking away rights and spending money like nobody's business. It is fools like this guy who gives them the reason.

Also screw Mexico, let the cartels kill themselves. I feel the same way about inner city street gangs.

I know, because crime would completely disappear if we outlawed guns. The criminals and crazy people who do these horrible things would respect this law, because they respect law in general.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. You will still have the same amount of violence regardless of guns or not. They don't possess people, but there has been plenty of threads on this issue already.

Heres my crack pot idea (let me have it because there are a lot of wacky ideas on here that go unchecked). I think the media is highlighting these recent events to build recent public awareness that guns are bad, and give Americans something to be scared about so they support an anti-gun bill that will surely pass. I hope they do pass the bill, because it will show that nothing will change, crazys will still kill people, and the criminals will still do what they have always done

No way does a guy kill 3 cops before being apprehended if he doesn't have a gun. Sorry. If he comes at them with a knife, he goes down and in handcuffs before anyone gets killed. Period.

That said, I oppose a gun ban.

As to the OP, the reason this shit happens is because there are too many people competing for not enough resources and these people have weak genes that should have been weeded out by evolution but instead they thrive because of our society's structure. At the same time, our society is so dehumanizing that these weak ones that it keeps alive but marginalized end up snapping under the pressure of being ground into dust by the machine... then they lash out. Get used to it. It's only going to get worse.

What has happened to the evolution of society? I thought we were past the bang-bang wild west shoot em up days. Why the need for so many guns? Yeah yeah…protection…I don’t want to hear it.

Yeah... And I am not anti-gun. If an adult with no criminal record wants to buy an AK-47, then legally they should be able to (IMO). But it's the nuts who are buying them because they think martial law is coming or that some revolution is on the verge of happening are the ones that scare me. If you want to get one for target practice or collecting, that doesn't bother me, but if you get one believing that someday you will need to use it to protect your country or some shit like that, then you need help.

Do you think it is impossible for it to happen here in America, or just highly unlikely?
  • megatronmegatron Posts: 3,420
    highly unlikely..
  • VINNY GOOMBAVINNY GOOMBA Posts: 1,819
    highly unlikely..

It is my belief that whether or not we experience martial law depends entirely on whether or not our own troops and law enforcement will agree to participate in policing us under martial law. The laws are such that it is "legal" for this type of governance to take place here, if necessary.

It will probably take rioting for it to happen, and with people losing their jobs and having trouble feeding their families you have to wonder, could it be that far off?

Also, if it were to happen, it may not apply to the entire country. I don't think it's impossible to see select volatile areas under martial law.

Alex Jones and Glenn Beck may have had a hand in the pittsburgh shooting.

Their followiers are so goddamn paranoid about a one world government and secret societies some of them are snapping.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Richard Poplawski was "convinced the nation was secretly controlled by a cabal that would eradicate freedom of speech, take away his guns and use the military to enslave the citizenry. ... He appeared to share a belief that the government was controlled from unseen forces, that troops were being shipped home from the Mideast to police the citizenry here, and that Jews secretly ran the country."

thank you Fox, for spreading fear.

Alex Jones and Glenn Beck may have a hand in this? Fear? Paranoia? Commy, look at the last 5 threads you've started. Some of them might inspire FEAR if any thought or speculation were to follow reading them:

China can sink our most massive carriers without a problem. Thermite was found in the WTC rubble. People are getting shot all over the place. Peaceful protesters are getting assaulted by riot police. Operation Northwoods - False Flag Terror that was to be perpetrated by the U.S. Government to escalate a full scale conflict with Cuba / Russia, etc...

Now, are you trying to incite fear, or trying to raise awareness to some fucked up shit here?

Guns are too readily available. I'm not for a ban on guns, but I do think we need much stricter gun laws. The facts speak for themselves.

    In 2004, handguns murdered:

    5 people in New Zealand
    37 people in Sweden
    56 people in Australia
    184 people in Canada
    19 people in Japan
    73 people in the UK
11,344 people in the United States
    - Provided by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence

Crime Statistics > Murders (per capita) by country:
    # 24 - United States: 0.042802 per 1,000 people
    # 43 - Australia: 0.0150324 per 1,000 people
    # 44 - Canada: 0.0149063 per 1,000 people
    # 46 - United Kingdom: 0.0140633 per 1,000 people
    # 51 - Netherlands: 0.0111538 per 1,000 people
    # 52 - New Zealand: 0.0111524 per 1,000 people
    # 60 - Japan: 0.00499933 per 1,000 people

FACT: In 2005, there were 1,019 gun deaths in the state of Illinois. That's almost 175% more than the total number of gun deaths in New Zealand, Sweden, Australia, Canada, Japan, and the UK combined.
    - Numbers obtained from CDC National Center for Health Statistics mortality report online, 2008.

FACT: Every two years more Americans die from firearm injuries than the total number of American soldiers killed during the 8-year Vietnam War. In 2003, the total number of people killed by guns in the United States was 30,136.
    - Based on data from CDC National Center for Health Statistics WISQARS online data collection system, 2006.

And sadly, here we go again...

2 killed in Michigan community college shooting

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090410/ap_ ... ege_gunman

By DAVID RUNK, Associated Press Writer David Runk, Associated Press Writer – 18 mins ago
DEARBORN, Mich. – Police say two people have been killed in what they believe was a murder-suicide at a community college in Dearborn.

Deputy Police Chief Gregg Brighton says Henry Ford Community College was locked down in the early afternoon Friday shortly after a 911 caller reported shots were fired.

Responding officers set up a perimeter around the fine arts building and heard a gunshot as they entered.

Brighton says police discovered the bodies of a man and a woman in a room. He says he didn't think it was being used at the time.

    The lockdown has been lifted.

Brighton says a shotgun was used in the killings.

an example of what was said before, these people can't make it in society. they blame everybody else.
