I was just wondering lately and I think its worth discussing. I believe there's a lot of people these days, young and 20-30 somethings who believe a band, no matter how successful they are or become, tend to be irrelevant after 5 years or so, 3-4 albums etc. I guess I could agree w/ that statement but how can you deny if a band of your generation, which we all know how many artists/bands of our parents' generation have stood the test of time, can still pack arenas around the world and have a strong devoted fan base year after year. Isn't that more difficult to achieve than a group who puts out a few records, tours, hiatus or splits then moves on w/ other people to create something entirely different? I suppose what I'm getting at is if a band "repeats" itself it becomes boring and run its course hence less creativity. Believe me, I didn't think of this, but it does hold some water. A lot musicians of many genres over time have worked w/ some many people and recorded w/ them and could care less where they started. I don't know, maybe I'm just rambling on, but PJ is still intriguing live and I hope one day they don't fall into the old rock band cliche of new songs once or twice a decade and never break up....

I've always thought its sad about all these bands that are supposed to change the world and they break up after 3 albums. The Strokes/The Vines/Jet, just to name a few. It is much harder to keep a band together for a long period of time, and to keep it interesting for the musicians and the fans. I think that the industry burns them out with touring, pressure, fame, family obligations, drugs, alcohol, hey I wanna be a movie star horseshit.
PJ keeps it real low key and I think thats part of the reason they are still around.
The Strokes never broke up.. they're working on their 4th album right now.
