What would you do?
My girls are planning a get together but it'll be later in the month cuz one is in Cali right now for a few weeks.
I have 3 kids, a boring husband, no babysitters  I'm thinking of locking myself in my room for the entire day and watching Pearl Jam DVD's with my favorite drinks, foods, etc ;) SO far that's sounding like a plan to me :D

    'boring husband'......?
you don't think he has, or wants, to plan something special for you? or you could always drop hints. :D and definitely no babysitters? bummer. when i turned 35 i actually didn't do anything too special, didn't really differentiate it from any other birthday that i recall. went out for dinner to a fave place, had a good meal, drinks...good times, just me and hubby. probably celebrated a bit with my family on thanksgiving as well and that was it. i wanted to do something *big* when i turned 40......but hubby couldn't get the week off work, and really, our wallets couldn't swing it at the time either. i'll have to do *BIG* for 45.

35 rocks. 8-) really. i don't know why, but i really loooked forward to that birthday. it was a good birthday, and i had a good lead-up and follow-up to it....lots of change of my own doing, mostly for the better.

so blah, blah, blah....none too helpful eh? :P fave foods, drinks, friends or family...and pj dvds...sounds like a good time too. bottomline, it's YOUR day...so do whatever is truly fun and special for YOU! ENJOY and CONGRATS!!!

  • wow thanks...you actually just put a whole new spin on it. Yeah with this fantastic economy, there isn't too much fun and exciting our budget can handle. everything is going into saving for Disney right now. Our oldest just turned 15 and we want to get there with him before he doesn't want to be seen with us anymore
The babysitters would be my parents and because they are getting older, the 5 and one year old tend to wear them out so I try to save up baby sitting needs for really important things. You know, like PJ shows ;)
I don't think it's so much that he's boring, I think he just lacks imagination! Or the know how. He needs to learn more about this here world wide web. I think that would help inspire him. Like when I got him tickets to not only see but meet his idol, Joe Satriani! ;)
I am thinking I am really gonna push for something spectacular for my 40th. Like the trip to Seattle to actually SEE Seattle that I want. When I went to the Gorge show in 2006, our planes were delayed so badly, I had no exploring time!!
ACtually you were very helpful and helped give me something to strive for when that big 4-0 rolls around :D
  • oh and thank you :D

    awesome!
well i would say then, it is your task to *inspire* your husband a bit....fan the flames of his imagination...and sure, then 40 will go off like a house on fire! ;) hahahaha.

seriously, i hear ya on all those issues....but you bet, even at home and low-key...can still be a FABULOUS birthday. life's what you make it and all that. and yes, i am definitely one of those who STILL looks forward to birthdays, b/c i always say....better than the alternative! we can't grow younger, so why sweat and dismay over the inevitable? revel in it, enjoy every moment. no time to be a void or save up on life, you've gotta spend it all. or sumthin' eh? ;)

and yes......45 is going to kick ASS when it comes around i am going to make sure of that. i've got a little less than 5 years to prepare. :D and you still have 40 to look forward to.....and 35 to enjoy on the horizon right NOW...so enjoy it ALL!

(and sure, let us know how you celebrated...and how good it was!) 8-)

These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.
