Another Vinyl Thread- Your Opinion is NEEDED!

i'm going downtown tomorrow to see if i can get some PJ vinyl. question isss, which one first? which sounds best? i've been looking for years and the only thing i have is riot act from tower.com back when it wasn't as hard to obtain them. i'm probably going to get a lot of "theyre all awesome!" which is ok but just doesn't really answer my question :D i'm gonna get them all someday, but i dont know if i can really afford them all at the moment... also, what other band's vinyl should i get if i get the chance? i'm kind of new to the vinyl scene and i want to be able to get something that sounds great on vinyl if i find that i can't get pj? thanks!

    Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde is great on Vinyl. Also the first Aerosmith album. Hope it helps. But for Pearl Jam I really don't think it gets much better then Lost Dogs...so much variety on so many discs.

    thanks! i really want lost dogs because it's one of my favorites... but it always goes for like, $150 which is just insane! maybe i can get someone to get it for me for christmas or something..

    the new 180gram re-issue of TEN sounds awesome, better than the older one. anything on 180gram is usually quality. a lot of stuff has been reissued on 180 gram recently, for instance all of LED ZEPPLIN's amazing work...

    as far as which PJ to start with, you may not have many choices, id say buy whatever you can get your hands on. ive actually been blown away by the prices on ebay recently...its getting really crazy...yield and binaural are going for $150 more or less...insane. not to mention ITW and the benny....capitalism is a bitch.

    i assume by downtown you mean new york, so you may have better luck than i would have down here in miami.

    kings of leon released their stuff on vinyl, and i think their new one is coming on vinyl, they arent impossible to find like pearl jam.

    i dont claim to know shit but im a vinyl freak, so if you find any doubles id glady buy any extras that you pick up. my girlfriend wants the set now too...

    Hey just saw that you are 20, I too am 20. Actually I got Lost Dogs from my brother. He bought me that and VS. on Vinyl for my high school graduation. He was fourteen at the time so i'm assuming that he could not afford 150 dollars haha. He found both of them for me at Newbury Comics. I think he paid like 50 for both.

    thanks! you know a lot more than me about vinyl... i actually just accidentally stepped on my turntable today and cracked the case (god im a retard!) it should still work though, but it's definitely not the best record player in the world, i can't even play it without a place to plug in the whatchacallits... cord things into speakers or something

    I took him this summer to the last show in Mansfield...He freakin' loved it. I've never seen a kid get so hooked on a band so fast. Well anyways, Good Luck with the Vinyl hunt!!

    awww thank you! :) but the guy im currently crushing on is into jazz. not even like, cool jazz, its the kind of jazz bill cosby listens to. and this really weird shit thats like, stuff clanging around over and over... the best way to describe it is to direct you to the song bike-pink floyd and listen to the end of it and thats what he likes.

    Not true. There's a lot of crappy vinyl out there disguised as "audiophile" vinyl to fool vinyl enthusiasts. There's a label called "Simply Vinyl" that makes 180gram vinyl straight from compact discs and sells them as "audiophile" vinyl. It's a total farce.

    I have some of the Led Zeppelin 180g stuff, and I think it sounds like crap, but I'm in the minority on that one.

    The Who reissues on Classic Records come from superior tapes to any previous LP (or CD) pressings, but they're mastered super, super bright which means you need an equalizer to get them into human hearing range.

    I really love riot act, and on vinyls it's on another level. It soudns really really good. Get it. It's certainly one of the less expensive PJ vinyls.

    see, this is why i claimed i didnt know shit. its typical that there would be a company out there making crappy 180gram reissues. theres a downside to everything...

    im enjoying the hell outta zep IV on 180g...sounds good to me....course i dont know shit

    i wanna add that most of DYLAN's stuff on vinyl is good...

    i actually got it years ago before all the vinyl craze so i got it for like, $20 :D it's my favorite album so thats why im glad to have it. i also tried to buy other records but tower.com only had riot act left. *sigh*

    anyway, it seems like i'm going to have to pick up led zeppelin, aerosmith, dylan, and no code! hopefully i wont have to spend a ton of money.. *crosses fingers* i'm leaving as soon as i pick up a pair of stone tickets! :)

    Anytime my friend. I like to think that I am computer literate, but I'm certainly not good enough to know how we go about doing this. So if someone else could help us out that would be great.

    i tried for this argument in another thread. im lucky to have most of the vinyl but i still for reissues. and i hope even more that the band sees what is going on with their vinyl. $150+ for a record is crazy....

    all i found was ten and a light years single.. i found some boots (though im pretty sure i could get them here for free) and i got one of those ed leaning on jeff posters... oh well, it was fun searching i guess :) and yes, i agree with fcbittenca! they should DEFINITELY reissue these vinyls! oh, i DID get my 93 christmas single from craigslist in the mail today! :D:D and for only $6!

    I'll sign too. I'm sick of paying too much to get a new copy of records when my old ones wear out. PJ claims to like vinyl and yet they won't reissue anything besides Ten and Vs. Why is that?
