Banners During Shows..

i want to make a banner out of cloth to tell the band my appreciation for playing me cropduster and perhaps ask them for undone, but i was wondering, what's the protocol? i know i probably have to tell the person behind me what i was gonna do so he doesn't get mad at me or something for possibly blocking his view but i was wondering who's done it before and can give me some tips or advice. i'm gonna be sitting 8th row stone's side and i want to use that seat wisely since this will be the closest i've been to them and if i could show them appreciation for playing one of my favorite songs it would mean a lot to me :)

also if anyone has any info on my chances of getting picks/sticks/etc that would be cool too!

Just leave the banner at home. Not sure exactly what you have in mind but banner sounds like something big. Nobody wants an obstructed view in back of you and your banner.
Once in a while you can get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

well actually more like the size of a restaurant napkin, maybe a lil bigger, but not like, a high school pep rally kinda thing

lol. I'd love to help.. but since I've no experience on US shows and most of the banners I've seen at shows have just pissed me off (unless they were hung somewhere up where they weren't bothering anyone).

    so.. sorry. :D

how big were the ones that pissed you off? cuz i was thinking to get not a big banner, and maybe hold it up between songs. does anyone have any suggestions on how to express my gratitude without a banner? maybe a t-shirt or something? i feel like shouting to them "thanks" might get lost in the sea of noise

The trick is to only hold up banners/requests until it has been read and then be done with it. If you keep putting it up after its been read your going to not only piss people off around you but EV might get annoyed as well.

big. one I remember most clearly was this huge cardboard banner some two girls were holding up at a PJ show.. (possibly Dusseldorf, I can't remember for sure) it had a funny-ish poem-y type thing written on it.. which is all fine and stuff. but they kept putting it up over and over again and 1) the thing on it was too long to be "effective", 2) this was a standing space so it was blocking many people's views and 3) they were a tad too far from the stage to make the banner even readable to the band..

sorry girls if yous recognise yourselves, I know you meant good. :D and thanks for finally realising that getting rid of the banner was best!!
