Best Way to Replicate Stone's Tone from Alive

What is the best way to replicate Stone's early tone from the Ten album? I am really looking to replicate Stone's tone from the earliest versions of Alive. I love the raw gritty tone. That's the riff that made me fall in love with playing the guitar and I want to try and replicate it as closely as possible.
A little info on my setup: I play an Epiphone Les Paul Custom that has a P-94 in the neck position and a burstbucker in the bridge position. My amp is a fender hot rod deluxe and the only effects pedals I have so far are an Keeley modded TS-9, a Uni-Vibe, and a RV-5 Digital Reverb.
I know I need to add some pedals...so, I'd love to get feedback from you guys/gals!
Thanks in advance!

A lot of Stone's early tone is very simple: Les Paul, Ibanez Sonic Distortion (SD-9), Marshall tube amp.
Your Les Paul will be close enough to start with, although the P-94 won't quite jive with Stone's tone. You could stick to the bridge pup, or use the middle position.
The combo of distortion and amp will be a little harder for you to replicate... the TS-9 is a good pedal, but it doesn't quite get into classic Stone territory. I would probably recommend something like a ProCo Rat, SansAmp Classic Distortion, or Marshall Gov'ner. Any of those three will help your Fender amp sound more like an overdriven Marshall....and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 -
Thanks for the feedback. I'll give a few of those pedals a try.1991-11-30 St. Paul, MN 1992-08-28 St. Paul, MN 1998-06-30 Minneapolis, MN 2000-10-08 East Troy, WI 2003-06-16 St. Paul, MN 2006-06-26 St. Paul, MN 2006-06-27 St. Paul, MN 2006-07-07 San Diego, CA 2007-08-05 Chicago, IL 2008-06-24 New York, NY 2009-08-23 Chicago, IL 2009-08-24 Chicago, IL 2011-07-02 EV Minneapolis, MN 2011-09-03 PJ20 East Troy, WI 2011-09-04 PJ20 East Troy, WI 2013-07-19 Wrigley Chicago, IL 2014-10-19 St. Paul, MN0
