What does Pearl Jam mean to you?

Piggy backing off the Best Buy video thing, what does Pearl Jam mean to you, the band, the music, the lyrics?

Why after 15 years do you keep coming back to this band?

For me, they symbolize freedom, anger, catharsis, expression.

    Escape. Exactly. Something to obsess about but not in a bad way. everybody needs something to obsess about to a certain extent. it's what keeps you going. PJ is a positive distraction to the struggles of my life.

    This band really is a big part of my life. I can listen to their songs, relate, rock out and just enjoy their sound. I love seeing them live, I hope to see them more in a few months. They are some of the coolest mother fucking rock stars, im proud to have a tattoo of the band on my leg. I LOVE paying my $20 membership fee to be part of their fan club. When the new album comes out, you can bet your ass I will be there when the store opens.

    It means every day I start listening to them will be a good one..at least to start! Breakfast of Champions! I do this every day due to whatever it is they are lacing the music with...Hello my name is Lisa and I am an pearl jamaholic...can't start the day without hearing them! In the car, switch on the ipod and off I go...'cause it makes me smile!

    They put something in my drink at that first show that caused immediate addiction. So, that's why I keep coming back. Can't help the jonesin'. Gotta feed the addiction.

    One of those bands I've been into from the beginning ( when they emerged in the UK 1992) I may like a few bands more but PJ will always be special.

    They mean allot to me they always have, I've unfortunately not seen them more than once, back in 2000 on the Binaural tour but just because I haven't spent a fortune on them and followed them everywhere ( I can't afford it) I don't think I'm any less the fan than anyone who has.

    It's what the mean to you in your heart and what their music does for you and I've been involved in many a heated argument about them sometimes to the point of ridicule but I've always stood by them and look forward to each release.

    I think you either get them or you don't, allot of the bands I like seem to stir up hatred amongst people and I find they are no exception, most people dismiss them after Ten and never understand why many of us still think they are a great band but they've evolved and not always taken the easy path and for that UI respect them even more.

    Yeah I love Pearl Jam and unless they do something really foolish and sell out then I will always continue to.

    It's hard to describe using words....here's what comes to mind for me......Pearl Jam is my morning coffee & my bubble bath at night! They are as familiar as the back of my hand. Pearl Jam is the cloth that I am cut from....the beginning and the end.....LOVE, LIFE & FAMILY....That's what the music means to me.... :D

    Pearl Jam was the first (but not the only) band/art to really wake me up. I was thirteen when I put Ten in the tape player and was first entranced by the liner notes. A light went on. And yeah, I've been entranced since. I've taken a hiatus or two, but I always come back, and when I do, the obsession is just as strong (if not stronger). Every album has had something to offer me, and every show has been an almost religious-experience (as ridiculously overstated as that may seem to most). I respect this band's music, art, politics, and business; always have, and I truly hope I always can/will.

    They have been my Soundtrack to life and there is a song for every memory and a memory for every song...It is great to have your favorite band stick it out and continue making GREAT FUCKING MUSIC...AFTER 17 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who did that??? Many bands stuck around, but the quality of their music was typically in decline after 10 years...Perspective...Pj has been around almost 2 times as long as The Beatles were together...They constantly Tour and release merchandise that keeps us on our toes in anticipation...And they are just cool people...How can they NOT mean the WORLD to any fan???????????
