The "I played Rock Band 2 w/Matt Cameron" thread!

Just got finished playing Rock Band 2 w/Matt Cameron, as I had signed up for this.

I accepted the invite using my Stone Gossard character which Matt laughed at and thought was great. He had a female character and was playing with his daughter helping out on drums. First we played Peace Sells by Megadeath, then Pinball Wizard. His daughter was providing some cute commentary while playing :)

The other two people who I played with (guitar and singing) were a husband/wife couple and they hardly said anything though the guitar guy was really good. They probably didn't talk much because it's hard to chat while playing.

I tried asking a few questions but again, it was very hard to hear anything and I think he and his daughter were sharing the mic. At the end of the two sets I did ask when we would get to see them next on tour. His answer...

Summer! :)

Will try to post the video on YouTube a little later on :)

Share your Matt RB2 stories here too, please!

Dammit!!! I was so close to playing with him. As I went to hit the start button to start the session, Matt left it and three of us that were going to play in the dust... I'm glad you were able to play and looking forward to seeing that vid.

He was playing on Easy (because he was with his daughter), the singer on medium I think, and me n the guitar guy were on Expert. Though I wonder what he would've played on without her there 8-)

    thats really wild.
  • Thanks for starting the thread Foxy (btw - I sent you a friend invite - Gamertag=PerlJam)...I got to play with Matt and his son shortly after you played.

Me and another dude from Italy got to chat with Matt for a few minutes while we waited for a singer and then again between songs...No singer showed so we jumped in and played Alive. Matt's son was on drums - both he and his son chatted during the song, but near the end I think they had technical difficulties because he failed out. Matt jumped in on drums and we fired up Alive again and this time we nailed it. I was on bass (hard), the other dude was on guitar (medium), and Matt obviously was on drums (hard I think). He said he was new to it and that his kids were better than he was!! :-)

We chatted about touring and Matt said they were planning for Europe, US, and Canada later in the year. He said they were currently focused on finishing up the album, which he said was coming along very well. I asked about songs he contributed to this album, and he confirmed that he had written a few tracks.

We also chatted about the 05 Canadian Tour, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, and MSG 08. I said that I was in the crowd for MSG 08 and he asked if we could feel the ground shaking during the show. He said that the boys thought it was an earthquake at first!!!! I commented on Black Diamond during that show and he said that it was a great honour to play with Ace Frehley.

Oh yeah, I also mentioned just getting the Super Deluxe edition of TEN, and he asked how I liked it. I said it was great and that I was still taking it all in. He said that they were very pleased with the way it turned out and that Jeff put a lot of work into it.

All in all it was a very cool experience. Thanks to Matt, Pearl Jam, the 10C and Matt's kids!! :-)

Canada? Awesome! That sounds like a LOT TO DO this year. And it also seems to somewhat contradict what Mike said yesterday ... but who knows...

There's a pretty good chance that the guys aren't even 100% sure what they are doing this year yet. We all know that they've scrapped tours in the past that were tentatively booked and a lot probably depends on how quickly the new album comes together.

Hopefully we will hear something in April :)

  • I have to admit, I'm super jealous! Sounds like you had a blast!

The tour news coming from Matt himself is really exciting, we'll see what happens :D

This means I need to start chuckin' my pennies into the Tour jar....just in case ;)

    Thanks for sharing!

I agree - I thought it sounded like a ton to do between now and the end of the year (finish album and full blown tour), so my take was they were focused on finishing up the album and starting to plan a full tour...By "this year" he could have meant between now and March next year...

  • Oh yeah - I almost forgot...I asked Matt if he and the boys get jealous of Ed when he goes off on his smoke break during the solo in Even Flow on stage...He laughed and said that it was all good! :-D

I'm not sure what to think anymore, Mike said there were planning a thing for the states he didn't mention anything in Canada or overseas, then Mike said Fall and Matt said Summer :? Maybe it'll be end of summer beginning of fall? lol

Ima have to save the 7 days I have left of vacation... hopefully we'll get an announcement couple of months before any scheduled shows so it easier to plan the traveling and stuff.

Got to play with Matt last night too. I was in the last group. He sang, his son was on drums, another gamer was on bass and I played guitar. His son picked Oceans while we were playing he was doing an awesome impression of Eddie ("OHHHH!!!!"). It was awesome. Said the album recording was going along great and that they were almost done.
