Now that the Stanley Cup Finals are over, and i'm over it, I can start to focus on this little shindig coming up in a few weeks. so.........

where is the best place to park and go to the arena? i'm not all that familiar with the area. any other advice would be appreciated too.

My Suggestion, if you are driving in from Pittsburgh, is to park at a Red Line metro stop, it starts in Gaithersburg/Rickville. Just get off on 270 and the red line goes straight to the verizon center. Just get on the metro at one of those places and take it to Gallery Place/China Town. When you walk up the escalator, you are there.

    I second that motion.

I agree as well, except that it's Rockville, not Rickville :)

Or if you're staying the night, leave your car at your hotel all weekend and metro from there.

this is definitely the best way to go. plus parking at metro is free on weekends. Make sure you check what time the last metro leaves for Shady Grove from Gallery Place/Chinatown, because i think it stops early on sunday.

ah thank you. all of you. when i was there for the pens/caps game we stayed in shady grove and took the m, but i'm not good with what line to take and all that stuff, and i wasn't sure what time it stopped running either.

If you get there early enough and drive around there may be street parking but Sundays are quite difficult as people don't move thier cars until Monday morning. Also a lot of the garages are closed on Sundays. The best advice is to take Metro but plan to go early as they run slow on off peak days. Perhaps park near a different metro and get there. It's on the red, green and Yellow lines, and about 4 blocks from the blue and Orange line at Metro Center so as long as you can get to the metro you should be fine. One public lot that should be open is on H and about 10th. The site of the old convention center. maybe there is one up 7th st. to around L or something. Street parking should be free while lots might cost from $10-$15

As far as what's right around the Verizon Center, check this, I put it together for my friend's Web site.

I have two extra upper level seats that I am selling for slightly less than face value for the DC show, if anyone is interested let me know.

    Thanks!

They also have parking at the Verizon Center for $20. Traffic shouldn't be too bad on a Sunday.
