Download the newest version of the Stuffit Expander freeware and drag the file onto that program instead of using the OSX Archive Helper.
I know Stuffit isn't anyone's first choice, but I tried four different freeware expansion apps before using stuffit, which I shall now uninstall, having opened my digital download.
MAKE SURE that you drag the .zip onto Stuffit -- if you just double click, ArchiveHelper will just keep giving you new archives alternating .cpgz (the true file format) and .zip.
The problem is that the file isn't really a ZIP file. It's a .CPGZ (Copy In Copy Out file that has been compressed using GZip, and whoever did it wasn't paying attention...

Apparently you didn't read what I wrote, especially the gripping climax that read:

The file isn't really a ZIP file, and if you follow the instructions given on the link you provided, you end up with another archive, then another, then another, ad nauseum.

Ok. Honest mistake. I genuinely hope no one was too distressed or confused by my addition (which is now gone).
But thanks for the sarcasm. That was the best part.
