R&R Hall of fame

edited March 2009 in The Porch
If any band is deserving of this acheivement its pearl Jam. All the years and wonderful music, dedication to their craft and charity contributions make them as qualified as any band ive seen. I think its about time they get the reconition they have earned. I sure would like to see them honored in this forum. :D

They have to wait until (at least) 2016 to be eligible

I'm sure they will, I don't have a doubt in my mind, though they can't get inducted into the Hall of Fame until 2016, eligibility starts at 25 years from the first record released.

Here's something to think about, Matt Cameron is in all likely hood going to be inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame "twice".

Sound Garden will definitely be inducted, as will Pearl Jam.

How many other artists have been inducted into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of fame in more than one band?.

While I have no doubt about PJ getting in, you really think Soundgarden will make the cut? They were great, but it didn't last too long....

Yeah, I'd almost have to agree with this...they were good, but not for long...

10 Years is a long career, and they paved the way for a lot of other bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana. While they didn't enjoy the commercial success of the bands that came after them, they were ground breaking and pioneering which earned them a lot of creds in the music industry.

Rush should get in before PJ or Soundgarden!
I can't believe they have been overlooked for so many years.
Even if you don't like them you have to admit they have done a lot for the music industry.
And what other band that is still around has been together as long as Rush, with the same members? Still making music, still touring.

The fucking Shirelles and Bonnie Raitt are in the Hall of Fame. If Soundgarden doesn't get in, they ought to board the place up.

    Paul McCartney
    Clyde McPhatter
    Jimmy Page
    Paul Simon
    Stephen Stills

the Hall of Fame needs to slow down and stop inducting like 5 acts every year...Soundgarden will definitely get inducted if the keep the pace they're going. They seem to be making the ultimate mistake of trying to one up themselves with each ceremony...The end result is that lines are becoming blurred and everyone and their dog is going to get inducted just so they can fill the slots...

what I think they need to do is only induct one act per year, and leave at that...make it a high honor, instead of dilute it.

As it is, PJ and Nirvana will probably make it first ballot, and Soundgarden will eventually make it because they don't have other options.

  • agreed rush should definitley be a lock. Funny thing is anyone would assume they were already and shocked they are not. I didnt realize the qualifications of elegibility surely pearl jam isnt the only band who deserve consideration. after reading the replies ive been reminded of the great bands that also should be reconized. cant wait for the day.

Yeah...Rush isn't in somehow, yet Grandmaster Flash and Run DMC are in. I don't understand how that works in a Rock and Roll HOF...
