I agree that they are too slow, i cant listen to them, but we are just used to the live versions all these years. oh well. those are what they are, its how they started.

I love this version of "Breath and a Scream" it's slower...yes...but alot more menacing.
"SOLAT" is an early rough take/demo, so you can't really knock it for not sounding polished.
I think these songs are placed on this set more for historical purposes then musical purposes.
Anyways, I think It's cool to hear early takes of these songs.
It's fun to see how the songs took shape and compare them to the classic versions that we all love and have listened to more times than we'd ever care to admit.
In the Jeff interview in the sticky he says:
"The version of "State of Love and Trust" with Dave Krusen on drums is so much better than what ended up being released."
I can't believe he's saying this. A not too subtle jab at Dave A for what was my favorite song, which no longer is the way they changed it. It's lost all urgency, enthusiasm and energy.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you.

Its interesting, everyone's got their opinions. I certainly don't always get excited about the band's hype over any new songs they're working on. I remember Mike McCready talking up "You Are" when they were doing publicity for Riot Act. To me, whatever interesting music is going on in that song is completely sidetracked by the lame lyrics and vocal delivery. Same thing with some of the members raving about Big Wave pre-Avocado. I honestly think its one of the worst songs they've ever recorded.
Of course, them's me meager opinions and I'm sure others here would list them as some of their favorite songs. Just part of the fun with the differing opinions of fans and band members alike...
slower Breath - I won't like it, it's too slow and lacking some energy
slower SOLAT - not that bad, I prefer this one.
The originals are better if you ask me but still great we have these early takes!!!

Anyway the question was, do you like them at a slower tempo like that dcompared to the tempo that we are used to
those are the ones we are talking about. The ones on the remixed cd are demos of those songs...completely different recordings...
the finalized versions are much, much better, IMO...
