I can't say just yet whether I prefer it yet definitively, I will need to live with it a bit more but the first listen for someone who has lived with this album since the beginning of 1992 ( the original release UK) I can definitely notice the changes. O'Brien has stripped it of the reverb and echo and yes I think Krusen's drums sound better for it.
The guitars do sound better, I've yet to listen to the remastered original and hear how different that sounds to the original but the remix sounds superb on 180 gram vinyl.
I will be interested to see what happens with VS , I think it will be a straightforward remaster and the best thing about that is the 180 gram vinyl for me and I can't wait to hear that remastered, O'Brien needs to do nothing with the mix though, remaster and it will be good to go!
It will certainly be interesting to see if they will remix the albums from VS forward. I'll definitely look forward to the upcoming vinyls as I already made clear in my thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=95079, that no one wants to comment on :(
