O'Brien Remixes: Ten Redux vs. Rearviewmirror

I like the intro to Black on Rearviewmirror better... The opening chords are filled in more in the left speaker, and then Eddie's voice fills in more in the right/center... In Ten Redux, the intro is pretty much restricted to the left... The rest of the Redux version is better, though... I love how Eddie's screams are extended and added in towards the end (these weren't even part of the original mix)....

I know, I know - there's something wrong with me for even noticing this....

Anyone else notice any difference between the O'Brien remixes?

  • I noticed that to and do agree on that one song. I dislike the intro to once and have a greater appreciation for the one with the instant start up.

me too... the non-master slave intro really starts off with a bang!

  • I am really digging the "Even Flow" and "Why Go" remixes. I enjoy the "Once" remix from "Rearviewmirror" because I think it sounds better without the "Master/Slave" intro. However, I understand why the intro is included on "Ten Redux" since it is supposed to be a remix of the entire original album.

The "Garden" remix really lets Eddie's vocals standout.

I'm completly in love with the Brendon O'Brien re-mix; especially on vinyl.
The guitars are so much more raw and there is alot of cool little added Eddie grunts, howls and screams.

The scream at the end of Jeremy before the outro is just killer!!

It's like discovering an old beatup Poloroid and sharpening the color and images.

I'm picking out all these cool little guitar parts in these songs (Like Stone's rhythm guitar playing on E-Flow) that were buried and hidden on the original mix.

Jeff's playing on "Garden" is great too.

TEN sat on my shelf for years unplayed. It just never stood up against the rest of the albums. But now It's completly different. I honestly don't see myself going back to the "original" album. The Brendon O'Brien mix however, will get quite a few spins guarenteed!!

It's nice to read such views and thoughts about the reissue. :)
