I hope he's healthy by the Tour de France. I can't wait to see him ride in it again.

BALTANAS, Spain (AP) - Lance Armstrong has broken his collarbone in a crash during a five-day race in Spain.

Astana team leader Johan Bruyneel says on his Twitter feed that it was a clean fracture without complications. He adds that the seven-time Tour de France champion should make a fast recovery.

Armstrong crashed Monday during a pileup in the first stage of the Vuelta of Castilla and Leon race. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The 37-year-old Texan is making a comeback to cycling and is riding with the Astana team as he prepares for another possible shot at a Tour de France title. He had not raced in Spain for five years.

It appears as if he will miss the Giro d' Italia in May though. That is the one I was really interested in. He has only raced seriously in the TDF in the past. I was anxious to see how he would do in some of the other tours. I think he had planned to try to win the Giro. So far the tours he has participated in have been training races or in support of others. But I guess it will be a little while before he races again.

My friend is going to the TDF just for the possibility of him being in it. (it will be his first time live going) He will definitely be disappointed if Armstrong is not in it.

My uneducated guess is that he will be healthy enough to race in the TDF in July. But will he want to if he has missed out on a big chunk of training time? If he is seriously wanting to win the TDF he may bow out. He hates to lose. However, if he was really going in support of Contador then he may go even if not in top condition.

If I broke my collarbone- hell no do I want to go on a bike  - But 4 months from now...maybe he will be ready. I hope so. They are going to travel with the the pack on the later leg of the race- from Bourg Saint-Maurice up to the finish line. I so wish I could go.
