why i say! i just bought a 5 pack of juicy deliciousness called pluots, i got to have one, then this morning i had to throw them all away... they mutated into soft, brown, furry balls (insert dirty joke as you choose). and just last week i bought some pears and they lasted all of 2 days. does this happen to anyone else?? guess i should invest in some of those debby meyers bags. but in the mean time, read up on my new favorite genetically engineered fruit here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluot

haven't had much trouble with my fruit, but my frickin milk keeps going bad before the due date. WHich is extra gross, because you don't always use milk exclusively for drinking....twice in the last month I've been burnt by this.
once eating cereal - got halfway thru a bowl before I noticed a funny smell when the spoon got to my mouth...never noticed the taste, but it was def going sour.
the second time was eating tomatoe soup...noticed it was sour when I had a sip from my glass of milk...which didnt' happen until AFTER I'd consumed an entire bowl made with the same milk

Yikes! That is like my worst nightmare. :o
  • Fruit is dead and starts the rotting process as soon as it's picked. Because of that reason, it is picked way before it's ripe and then kept in cold storage. For nutritional reasons you're better off either: buying prepackaged frozen or canned fruit (ironically it's better for you because it is picked at full ripeness) or the best solution buy locally-grown produce (if possible). Don't put to much stock in commercially advertised "organic" labels as there is a lot of flexibility in the "organic" label. My advice, buy locally; but that's easy for me to say, I live in northern California.

Do you keep it in the fridge or on the counter? I keep mine in the fridge with the crisper humidity on high. They keep for a long time.

Drowned Out: do you keep your milk in the door? That may be the problem
