And tix for ACL Fest are already on sale, they've been on sale since the week after the last one (when I bought mine!) PJ is rumored to play there EVERY year.

Nothing like waking up the day after SXSW and hearing ACL Fest talk. I love living in Austin!
i'm hoping to move to Austin sooner rather than later. i grew up in Houston, live in Maine now, and am ready to get back to Texas... this sure would be a nice welcome back 8)

and how much are tickets usually?
and one more question- doe ACL usually sell out?

it's held in Zilker Park which is within the city of Austin and there is no onsite camping. there are different levels of ticket prices (early bird, first round, second round, etc) and they're typically in the $120 - $170 range. i went 2 years ago and people were able to get 3-day & single day passes at the gates... i wouldn't recommend it if you are traveling a distance though. not worth the risk

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. They had that Dallas venue booked and notification was even sent out to season ticket holders list Pearl Jam on like 9/29 or something.

So yeah, not believing it this year until it is officially announced.

I live in Austin, so I can say, I am SO SICK of this rumor EVERY year that they are going to plat at ACL, I hope they do, but I'll believe it when I see it. Also I have heard ACL fest makes bands sign an agreement that they will not play within 250 or 300 miles of Austin the week of the ACL fest. If they do an ACL taping that would be AWESOME!

Just another FYI about this year's lineup---it was "confirmed" by Billboard that Kings of Leon are one of the top headliners.

also, you can read up on all the rumors & travel tips here:

hope this PJ rumor is true...that would be awesome.

I don't believe that's true. I live in Fort Worth and it's pretty common for artists that are playing at ACL to play in Dallas-Fort Worth even the same weekend.

ACL has become one of my "must do" concert events so having PJ there would be the ultimate! :D

I distinctly remember Coldplay playing a couple of Texas dates the week either before or after ACL Fest. Hell, Bob Dylan played Stubbs DURING the festival. It wouldn't make sense to have a rule like this, since most bands tour around festivals (it's much more expensive to haul your gear to one show). And half of the bands play an after show at one of the local clubs.

I will agree that this is a rumor every year to no avail, but after austin360.com posted it last night, plus the ACL guy saying they were going to tape an episode of the show, this is by far the most likely it's seemed. Still, I'm not going to get my hopes up till its official. Plus, living here I already have tickets, it's always awesome no matter who headlines.

How does it work when bands tape episodes of the show? Are those private events or do they sell tickets to the public? It looks to me like there are only a few hundred people at those shows.

This ACL thing is interesting. Is this potentially part of a fall tour? Or will they simply play a few festivals prior to finishing the album? There's still a lot of festivals that haven't announced lineups. I know for a fact that DMB is one of headliners for the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco on Aug 29th. Could PJ be another headliner for that festival? I've also heard strong rumors that Neil Young will play Outside Lands this year. Neil, DMB and PJ would be a very solid group of headliners for Outside Lands. Plus they've all played Bridge School together multiple times. You can kind of start connecting the dots. Of course it's still a long shot. I just hope we know what's going on before too long.

I've never been to an ACL Taping but after last year's rumors I did some asking around.... It seems that tickets to these shows are usually free and distributed somewhere around town usually at a place like Waterloo records on Lamar. Seems you just have to be in the know on when they will be distributed and get in line super early. I did also hear that last year that were no tickets available for the REM taping because the REM fanclub requested all of them to be distributed among their fanclub members.

I sure hope that the 10Club does the same thing if this does indeed happen. I would imagine it would be something similar to the NYC restriction they did in '06 for the Letterman aftershow or Irving Plaza can't remember which. Just hope that they'd include Round Rock as part of the Austin area!!

austinsoundcheck.com says they tried to "independently verify" that PJ, DMB and the Beastie Boys were the headliners, and Pearl Jam was the only one they could confirm. Make of that what you will.

PJ will probably play the ACL Studio on Monday evening October 5th, after headlining the ACL Festival Sunday October 4th. May be a chance they play the studio Saturday evening, but previous headliners typically play the Monday evening slot!

The tickets will probably be distributed Friday October 2nd, they are free, they are usually released at the KLRU studio on UT Campus or at Waterloo Records, tickets due not always get you in however! The Ticket reserves you a space in line. Vips and Sponsors get in first, after those seats are filled, the line goes in until the Fire marshall shuts it down. The Good news if you get in besides watching PJ with 300 other people is FREE BEER!

I know folks our sick of the PJ/ACL rumor, but they were confirmed for ACL and Dallas last year, but the band cancelled for personal reasons. It looks good for 2009! We will see! Rock + Roll!

Off to Waterloo Records for 10!

    the question is

    will they play stubbs?

    this just seems right

festival cash is good and its a perfect time to play the new songs before a huge audience (assuming the record is out in Sept.)

Playing the festival, taping an ACL show, AND an afterparty show at Stubbs ??!! That would be awesome if the stars could lineup for that !! Maybe they will do an acoustic set at Antone's like Alice in Chains did two years ago (yep, I'm dreaming now....).

someone asked when tickets go onsale & they posted a change to the acl site today - advance tickets onsale april 7th ... now let*s cross our fingers for some pj goodness!!! ... in a related discussion, c3 presents are the promoters of both lollapalooza & acl - has anyone else noticed that leaks have come from both festivals in the past few weeks? ... i find this very strange considering i was a crazy follower last year of the aclfestival board & there definitely were NOT any solid leaks like this ... here*s to hoping the acl pj leak is true!

I think the Austin City Limits show taping is pretty well confirmed. The producer of the show mentioned it in an interview at pbs.org which would then lend itself to ACL which was also rumored in Austin American Statesman blog.

On a recent chat on pbs.org “Austin City Limits” producer Terry Lickona said to look for Pearl Jam doing a taping this year.
