Overall excellent quality but I watched it for many years on VHS (copy from a VHS recording when it was aired on MTV) and then I watched the digital version with the timer on so it can only be better quality.
They're saving that for the 40th anniversary version.
Cost will be $612.00 usd.
...
I heard it was going to be on the Special Edition 2-Disc Blue Ray Directors Cut.
They digitally cut out Dave Abbruzzese's face and replaced it with Matt Cameron's... sort of the same way they swapped out the ghost of Anakin Skywalker at the end of 'Return of The Jedi'.
...
But, 'Rocking' In The Free World' is still missing and will be included in the Deluxe Special Edition 2-Disc Blue Ray Directors Cut.

No Rockin'??? What the... That sucks, I like that performance. I wonder why they didn't include it. Does it have all the little jams in between songs or is it edited like a TV show?

Ha hahahaa!
exactly! I just made a similar star wars CGI post in the other Unplugged thread. I think I'm gonna insert your quote there.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you.

... and it's great not to have the fucking timer on the screen
i hated that timer so much, that i made a piece of paper that fit over it perfectly. I kept it in the dvd and box and taped it to the screen each time i watched it.

Just finished watching!!! Much better than the vhs I had transfered to dvd. And no commercials!!! Transfering drop in the box to my itunes and ipod now. What a great day!!!!!
"Unplugged" looks great and sounds great. My complaint would be that they changed "Oceans". Eddie originally sang "Beth" a few times and now they've edited it out. I'm not down with revisionist history and I found this to be kind of lame. Get over it. Eddie has an ex named Beth. Why change the past? Sounds like something Dick Cheney would try to do.
What do you mean edited out. Like a swear word on the radio? Audio drops out? WTF!!!!!!!!!
They just kind of splice the audio so it just sounds like 'oh yeah' or something as opposed to oh beth. I would be OK with that if they left RITFW... one or the other, please... preferably RITFW
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to have a quality non-time code isssue of unplugged BUT Oceans with the Beth bit and the silly banter between songs is what made the session special to me. I know, I know the vocals are OUTSTANDING but the Beth/banter always made me feel like it was a really intimate setting of friends..."did Eddie make it in". Great nuggets of insight into the band dynamic and personal life we rarely get.
What do you mean edited out. Like a swear word on the radio? Audio drops out? WTF!!!!!!!!!
The SUPER DELUXE is edited so Eddie just says "Ohhhhh" where "Beth" used to be. Check out the original on YouTube. He says "Beth" 3 or 4 times starting at 2:53 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wCH8phMTOE
I just find it very silly that they couldn't live with the original.
Its too bad they didn't put both version on the disc.
The full unedited unaltered version and the version the aired on TV. There's plenty of room on a DVD for both? The TV version isn't even 40 minutes, and the unedited must be around 50ish?
Nirvana unplugged put both on their disc.. I thought that was well done.. had no need for the bootleg after the one.
They cut RITFW from drop in the park as well didn't they? Makes me think it was a royalty issue?
