So I have seen people talk about bands like Against Me!, Anti-Flag, Rise Against, and other flash in the pan "political punk" (and I use that term very loosely) bands bantered in threads here and there on this site, but no one seems to ever mention Propagandhi! They were left off of the Rock against Bush comps for writing "too" politically themed songs for the comp, or so says that ass clown Fat Mike. The new album is fucking bonkers!!! I suggest that anyone who counts themselves as fans of the already mentioned bands would do good to check out the New Prop cd, as well as Todays Empires Tommorows Ashes!!

Maybe I'm just amped to see them play tonight for there cd release show...

I didn't know that story. Sadly hilarious ... "Rock Against Bush ... but, not too much."

I first heard Less Talk, More Rock back in high school, but I kinda lost touch with what they were up to. (I had my own personal British Invasion :P )

I agree with the poster of this thread wholeheartedly. I love pearl jam more than anything on earth....except propagandhi.

If you are bored, I'd suggest you check out the song linked below (a few times) to get a feel for them before you become completely and totally obsessed. Okay, that's not likely to happen, but it would be nice.

If you hate it, I apologize, but I think that some of you would get a lot out of propagandhi being intelligent fans of music. At least listen until the 'with fuck all in between' part before you bail.

    Many thanks.

All the sucked thumbs and held skirts and blankets
so secure that they block out the sweep of the floodlights
that could free them from the darkness that surrounds them.
From the demons that keep hounding them and gouge their eyes
until all they can see are rigid dichotomies of the sacred and the profane.
Of salvation or shame with fuck all in between.
The human impulse to explain hijacked:
a controlled flight into terrain to ensure
no passenger ever makes any connection
between the proscription of mystery and their malaise.
Tidy pairings of inverse binaries. We all seek meaning in our lives,
but when every shadow of doubt is denied
    the sanctification of hatred thrives
on every sucked thumb and held skirt and blanket
so secure that they block out the sweep of the floodlights
that could free us from the darkness that surrounds us.
The demons that keep hounding us.
We put out our own eyes and reproach the blind.

    YES!
One of the best bands out there. Certainly one most worthy of your hard-earned cash. Saw them a few months ago (first time catching them as a four-piece) and it was ridiculous. Unfortunately Todd had lost his voice and didn't sing any of his stuff (Chris sang Bringer of Greater Things) but it was all good.
Their records really do get better and better with each release (though you might argue Todays Empires> Potempkin); I've listened to Supporting Caste at least a two times a week (sometimes many more) since it came out and have not tired of it.
    LISTEN TO THIS BAND.
Using the word "methinks" in your message board posts doesn't make you look smart.

cool. It's amazing how much they've changed since 93. I'd suggest giving them another go now. They really are unique and unbelievably talented. They've added a second guitarist who really gives them more depth and mood. I don't think that anyone on earth writes lyrics that are as thought provoking as Mr. Hannah. Check out Supporting Caste or A Speculative Fiction on YouTube and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I agree that Less Talk More Rock is stellar. Probably my favourite punk rock record of all time, and that's saying a lot. And for those of you complaining that backspacer is 36 minutes, LTMR is 20 some minutes and it's the most complete album I've ever heard.

    Anyway, cheers.

    Well put. My favorite too.
