We are in the home stretch now guys 9 days left. I do beleive few of us will start to get them this week and even fewer of us will be jumping up and down with autographs :(.

Todays question
What PEARL JAM song do you relate to the most? or Fav song and why?

I can't say one song is my fav since I love them all but the standout of all time is BLACK. Its the one song I can hear on a loop. Best version is ATALANTA 94, and the UNPLUGGED VERSION. Really looking foward to hearing the remix. I tell if you haven't heard BLACK sung in the garden you haven't lived. I still get goose bumps thinking of it.......the crowd singing in mass unfuckin real.

i'm hoping it arrives next weekend for me! song i can relate to is 'off he goes' because i've spent a lot of time away from friends/family and whenever we reconnect 'we're laughing like we always did.' such a great song all around. even if ed did say he thought it was a bit too long! :D

  • i would have to say the one that means the most to me is black. i grew up listening to rock radio and of course they'd mostly play ten especially during the early 90s. i remember black being my favorite pearl jam song when i was young mostly because i have a memory of me, my brother, and my mom driving around town and it was raining and black came on. i dont know why i cherish that memory so much, it was just a simple drive around town, but i do nonetheless, and black reminds me of that day. it was also the song my dad chose to help "win me back" since we had a falling out (still not together, never gonna happen). he decided it would be cool to write "i know someday you'll have a beautiful life i know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky but why can't it be mine?" in an apology card to me and kinda ruined the song for me for months. my favorite version is the unplugged version of course cuz that's one of the most passionate performances ever. can't wait to be able to see it without that stupid tracking thing!!!

the song that i relate to the most right now is present tense. for most of my life i've dwelled on the past and it's affected me pretty badly. after really paying attention to this song i've learned to forgive myself and move on. it really does make much more sense to live in the present tense :)

My favorite song by Pearl Jam, since I first got into them in 7th grade in 1998, has always been Low Light. I am not sure if I relate to it in a sense, since the lyrics aren't very straightforward, but for me, that song is just simply about life, and that is what I feel when I hear it, just the fact that I am alive and just living. It is hard to describe, but it has been my favorite song by Pearl Jam and any other band for that matter, for the last 10+ years.

  • I would agree with Present Tense, but I would also add Glorified G because I grew up with a bunch of rednecks who drove around with gun racks in their pickup trucks. Down is one of my all time favorite songs period!

    I got shit...

the lyrics "I got memories, I got shit, so much it don't show..." sums up a lot about my life in one line.

I'm doing the same thing over on myspace via bulletins. Dave Krusen left a comment and said "Release" was his favorite. Then he went on and told a story about when they recorded it for the first time. Ed got locked out of the rehearsal studio (on accident) but could hear them jammin the tune through the door. As soon as he got inside, he started singing some lyrics that he already had in mind and then "release" was born! Very cool story from Dave.

i think the PJ song i relate to the most would be Long Road... it's such a universally themed tune.. we all die, we all have dealt with death.... and this song is so beautiful and sums it all up so well.. one of Vedder's finest achievements, i think...

plus... Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan... c'mon, like you can get any better than to have him on your song!!! There's a reason he's one of the most recorded artists in history.

I saw that from Dave, thought it was a pretty cool story. It would be really cool to hear what other stories he has!
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?
