why are bands suddenly re-issuing their albums on vinyl and not maybe on SACD? :?:

where i come from you couldn't find ANY vinyl albums a couple of years ago. but now i see more and more LPs in record stores.

so i wonder what's the direction of releasing music in the future

Vinyl sales are on the upswing.

I'm not sure why SACD's didn't catch on.

I started buying vinyl recently. I was curious about the superior sound, among other things. The enlarged cover art is another major perk.

Also, I have all the music I can handle on my pc and ipod for convenience. Records make the listening experience a little more involved.

Nothin beats a dark room and a good soundin vinyl, as far as listening experiences go.

I have had a turntable for about three years now and have aquired quite a catalog. I think the previous poster was correct, with the uptick in MP3 and other digitial music people are swaying away from CD. The vinyl adds another diminsion to the music with the large art and involvement on playing the records not to mention the great sound with the proper system! I have been buying alot of new stuff on vinyl at my local record store (Vinyl Fever in Tampa Rocks!).

Can't wait to play the new stuff (old stuff, new sound) on my turntable!

I love vinyl. I just got a record player a couple of months ago and have been trying to complete my PJ vinyl collection...I wish PJ would re-release their entire catalog on vinyl because some are near impossible to get...like Binaural, Live on Two Legs, Rearviewmirror and Into the Wild.

Good point, no wonder the young generation of today (not all but most) don't appreciate music, to be more specific albums in their entirety.

I am actually looking at getting a record player so I can build up my PJ in vinyl as well as other music.
