I dont understand it.
Do I have to have a profile? and can anyone see my profile, or do I have to allow them?
and can you follow bands?
Can I follow people, without having my own profile?

any help would be great!
Take me for a ride before we leave...

Twitter is a website, that allows you to follow the updates of friends, family, and celebrities. Basically, they use it as a daily diary. If you find who you are interested in, you can choose to follow them, by following them you see every update they make. They can choose to follow you, as you can do the same.

    For example:

On March 12th Pearl Jam's Official Twitter wrote "Watching all the Ten Special Deluxe Editions get unloaded off the trucks!12:26 PM Mar 12th" and when I logged on I saw that.

You can reply by writing @PearlJam (insert text here) and it's sent to them. They can choose whether to respond, it's ran by 10c.. not PJ actually.

Hope this helps. You can also use it if your phone has internet.

There's another twitter discussion floating around here somewhere, but here is my attempt at describing Twitter from that thread:

...I guess it could be described as micro-blogging. You set up an account and talk about really anything you want in short posts called Tweets. Tweets are constrained to 140 characters, so it forces you to be concise. You can follow other people's Tweets and they can follow you and before you know it you have a community of people who are following each other. I've found it to be a great way to ask questions, point to cool content that I've seen, or just be funny and irrelevant. It's actually a great way to keep in touch with people who work in different departments or outside of my place of employment. It's not as formal as an email and reaches more people than IM and is just really fun to do. If you haven't tried it, set up an account and follow pearl jam's tweets. It's definitely an interesting social media experiment...

    Hope that helps.

Its really not a big deal at all. You simply get an account on the website. You can then register your cell no. with it, then you can twitter from your phone. There are also apps out there like Tweetdeck, that you can download, that sit on your dock, and notify you if you get a new tweet, so you don't have to keep a browser window open to keep track. Its just another way to keep with people and ideas you're interested in. I like it.
