But you need to say more. Cause otherwise you are a hypocrite.
Show me how I'm a hypocrite. All I did was ask environmentalists how they can justify their carbon footprint. I'm not an environmentalist, so no need for me to justify. And you're not an environmentalist so you never should have answered the question.

Fine. Then if you really cared about an honest response then you should have asked without passing judgment.
Is it ok to destroy the planet as long as you're having fun?
Then you are implying that those people having fun are destroying the planet. I took offense because I don't think it was a fair question and turned the question around on you.
Sometimes when you go off topic and say something then you will be called on it. No big deal. But I don't think you can be offended that a non environmentalist responded to your question in a thread that has nothing to do with your question.
To the environmentalists in this thread:
How do you justify the massive carbon footprint you're leaving behind as you travel from country to country? Is it ok to destroy the planet as long as you're having fun?
I'm not an environmentalist, and I have not given any thought to my Carbon footprint. However I took trains around Europe and Asia for the most part.
Let me ask you. If you were sailing around the world in a catamaran how would you justify the cost of getting it out of each marina.
That is a lot of gas.... or is the fun and adventure worth, what was that, oh yeah, "destroying the planet"?
I don't take transport.

i consider myself an environmentalist - flying is definitely something that is hard to rarionalize ... even tho i offset all my flights as well as my diet and energy consumption - it still really doesn't equate to not only the carbon emissions but the toxic waste related to the airiline industry ... it wasn't as bad before when i could travel for months and just make two flights but these days - if i want to visit another country - it's a flight there and back ...
so ... when all is said and done - there is an inherent hypocrisy that at this point in time am prepared to accept in myself ...

but that jet will be flying with or without you. Might as well also enjoy the planet you are trying to save.
i believe that to be a false pretense ... if everyone else decides not to fly for the same reasons - the plane will be grounded ...

We drove through it from North West to South East, and stopped in Sarajevo for the afternoon. This was in 1988, a few years before the war.
