Apparently Epic had this sampler pressed to promote Ten. They mailed it out to Soundgarden and Mother Love Bone fan clubs.

Songs were: Alive, Wash, a cover of I've got a feeling.

I have never seen one of these before, have you? Ebay? Collectors sites?

Does anybody have one? I'd love to see one and eventually get one.

Thanks for any info.

Are you referring to the one that is the same as the cassette? With the stickman on the front? If so, I have one of each. There is also a site(the name escapes me right now) that you can see it. Maybe someone will see this and help you out. Something like pjdiscography.com or something to that effect. If if doesnt show up, I will see if I can find mine(its out in the shop, and only God knows what I have done with it!) and take a picture for you.

My friend was going to see Eddie last night. Since he was in Vegas, I gave him 5 Grand to gamble with. I told him I wanted it all to go on Black. Bastard! PhillyCrownOfThorns-11-2-12

hmmm...I wonder if I am thinking of the same thing you are then? I always thought it was on cassette first...cd second.... and I was unaware of the vinyl version. If it is what I am thinking of anyhow. I will see what I can dig up. I looked over at pjcollectors and didnt see it.

There's no vinyl version of that single, you're probably talking about this one http://www.pjcollectors.com/detail.asp?id=262

  • A cassette was also released:

These tracks were recorded on January 29, 1991 at London Bridge Studios in Seattle. The "free" cassette was mentioned in the first 10C letter from Jeff & Stone introducing their new band, Pearl Jam.

I bought this promo cd off ebay for about $25.. It's a cool item, and the Alive solo is a different take, not the album version.
This is not so rare, anyway, it pop up on ebay every now and then and you can buy it for a good price if you're patient..

thanks guys. that is definately a cool item.

In "Five Against One" Kim Neely definately states that something was "pressed" and sent out to the fan clubs of Soundgarden and Mother Love Bone and then a cd version was made and sent to radio stations. But she must be wrong, this looks like the item in question. I want one, gonna look for one on the bay now.

Very cool little thing by Jeff, reminds me of the Temple of the Dog write-up on that cd.

i'm 99% sure it was the cassette verison of this that was mailed out to MLB fan club members announcing pearl jam and not a 7"...a friend of mine gave me a sealed copy of the cassette a few yrs ago.
