I love this song. I always thought it didn't get the recognition it deserved. One of their best IMO.
Reading this thread inspired me to have a listen to it, and I opened the CD booklet, something I haven't done in years, and what you see below is what fell out of it. I had to scan it, because it's an entertaining look at popular music from 15 years ago. Wow... 15 years ago!!

Damn, that's some good shit!
:(
agreed. if only aic would have been able to stick around there wouldnt be any need for godcrap or any of that junk.
Album name origin
According to lead singer Layne Staley, the title for the album came from a science experiment guitarist Jerry Cantrell conducted in third grade: "They gave him two jars full of flies. One of the jars they overfed, the other jar they underfed. The one they overfed flourished for a while, then all the flies died from overpopulation. The one they underfed had most of the flies survive all year. I guess there's a message in there somewhere. Evidently that experiment had a big impact on Jerry."
that is pretty cool!
the album is awesome from start to finish.

If I could spend $500 or so on a record, before any of PJ's expensive stuff, I would get the Unplugged vinyl. I bet it sounds like God.
Song-for-song, it's probably the world's first and only perfect album.

Never though Alice In Chains would be such a sentimental band to me, but since my sister's passing they've grown so much more important to me.

Jar of Flies is a masterpiece.
Wale and Wasp was played during our cocktail hour at our wedding, so many people asked me about it and where they could get it.
Now I know what I'm listening to later.
