I love this song. I always thought it didn't get the recognition it deserved. One of their best IMO.

It might be the best EP ever released. I can't think of anything that even comes close. Love Layne's part in 'Don't Follow.'

I've always loved this album. There's an energy in it that you don't hear anywhere else.

Reading this thread inspired me to have a listen to it, and I opened the CD booklet, something I haven't done in years, and what you see below is what fell out of it. I had to scan it, because it's an entertaining look at popular music from 15 years ago. Wow... 15 years ago!! :o

    I hadn't heard this before...

    Album name origin

According to lead singer Layne Staley, the title for the album came from a science experiment guitarist Jerry Cantrell conducted in third grade: "They gave him two jars full of flies. One of the jars they overfed, the other jar they underfed. The one they overfed flourished for a while, then all the flies died from overpopulation. The one they underfed had most of the flies survive all year. I guess there's a message in there somewhere. Evidently that experiment had a big impact on Jerry."

If I could spend $500 or so on a record, before any of PJ's expensive stuff, I would get the Unplugged vinyl. I bet it sounds like God.

I bought that Jar of Flies/Sap import version at a record store for about $10.

Song-for-song, it's probably the world's first and only perfect album.

Truly is such a great album. Alice In Chains was one of my sisters favorite band. Everytime I listen to them (generally their softer songs) I get a little choked up.

Never though Alice In Chains would be such a sentimental band to me, but since my sister's passing they've grown so much more important to me.

Love breaking this out and just turning it up while getting lost .... It serves every purpose that is needed at that time when emotions depend on ears for thought. Just beautiful music.....

That's a crazy story. It sounds like what is happening with humans. There's too many of us.

Other than that, it's a killer record.

Probably my favorite song by any band ever. I love this entire album. How i wish Layne was still wth us.

Wale and Wasp was played during our cocktail hour at our wedding, so many people asked me about it and where they could get it.

Yep, one of my faves as well. The other weekend I went down a 90's music rabbit hole...all AIC, Nirvana, and PJ. That was after watching the Kurt Cobain documentary and the Andy Wood movie. Took a minute for me to crawl out.

Love this album. It's amazing how it's considered to be their best even with just 7 songs.

Now I know what I'm listening to later.
