Research: Pearl Jam fans among the dumbest

Looks like PJ fans are of average intelligence. Probably close to the truth.
It took me a week to figure out how to get my sig to appear in my posts on the new board.

At least we are smarter than rap music fans!

When I go to EBay and see the prices some people will spend on Pearl Jam stuff... I tend to agree.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

you needed this chart to tell you that? really? have you been to a pearl jam show? the "bro" factor is through the roof (plus the frat boys bringing their sorority counterparts which in turn diminishes the level of intelligence in the arenas exponentially).0

Anyone who uses this "study" to justify the superiority of their musical tastes is an idiot, and I say this as both a fan of Pearl Jam, Lil Wayne and reggae (all under the smartness threshold). As usual, this whole thing is taken out of context. There is absolutely no correlation between musical taste and intelligence offered in the study. Rather, it's more indicative of how preposterous and skewed statistical results can often be. Griffith used Facebook data and plotted it against SAT scores. Numerous hidden or confounding variables could account for the results.if jah is the ship, we smile at the storm.0

No offense to the OP, but that's probably the dumbest things I've seen on here. I believe that as a majority, PJ fans have well above-average intelligence and tend to be politically and socially involved. This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0

Funniest stuff I have read all day.

well from a sociological point of view, i find this study flawed in the sense that A) he doesn't take the new version of the test (out of 2400 which includes a new essay portion) and
all of these artists generally fall within the same general area on the spectrum...
so with the results concluded, it's obvious that the average human intellect is within the rang most of these artists lie, and how versatile peoples music tastes are...
now taking the extremes on either side of this spectrum you see Beethoven among the smarter scores and Little Wayne among the least...well how to explain that? well the kids you remember in school who got straight A's and are in all AP and Honors classes who get scholarly awards and are heavily involved in the school orchestra are all listening to the styles of music they play in school, classical (i.e. Beethoven). These students generally live in comfortable rich homes and live in wealthy areas where they live comfortably enough to be able to focus on their academics.
and the "wangsters" who listen to rap and hip hop (i.e. Little Wayne) are among the students who live in urban homes in which most of the time there is only one parent present and money is tight...in these homes, home life is of higher importance than academics cause many of these students to drop-out of high school or just settle with a highschool deploma and the generally don't pursue college...
sorry for my sociological explanation, but i guess my point here is that this study is obviously not an accurate and reliable representation of the music's effect on a person's intelect...it's where and how they were raised which has an affect on academics and also has an affect on musical preference...but to say music preference and intelligence are directly related is inaccurate0 -
Counting Crows fans are among the smartest? That's retarded.0

Wow, Beethoven is for smart people!
I went to see a Beethoven tribute band at the Hollywood Bowl last summer (I guess he doesn't play live gigs anymore??). They refused to play any old stuff...all they did was play his 5th album....would it have killed them to break out some stuff from his 3rd or 4th record during the encore??????????????Post edited by JOEJOEJOE on0
