Right now I'm on a split shift because I have to meet with both the day shift and the night shift supervisors. I get up at 1:00am, leave the house by 1:30am, and get to the plant for 3:00am. I usually try to leave by 10:00am. I love this schedule. I get home around 11:30am and get to spend all day with my daughter. Then we go to sleep at the same time.

Speaking of, I need to go now and take my shower, it's almost my bedtime.

And yes, this schedule would interfere with my social life, that is of course if I still had one. The wife and baby killed that way before my work schedule did :D .

Speedy said it best.... that shift will kill you. I've worked every possible shift in the world and the 10:00 to 6:30 shift was the worst ever. I did it for 6 months and about the time I got used to it, I was taken off of it. I gained weight, I hardly ever got a good "day's" sleep, and I spent my days off bored to tears. I kept my sleep schedule on my days off, so on Saturday I wouldn't get up until long after lunchtime, and then I'd stay up until 6am, long after everyone was asleep. It especially sucked living in a boring ass town with nothing to do in the first place. It was even worse at 2am. But I did become good friends (briefly) with a PJ fan in Sydney, Australia :D

So, to sum it up, get the fuck off that shitty shift before it kills you :!: :!: :!:

I worked 7pm - 7am every other year for 11 years (then every other year 7 am - 7 pm) and I really was able to handle it for a while. Both shifts had its benefits but because no one else was working nights when I was, my closest friends were my coworkers and we would go out in the morning after work and have a good time.

It's a good thing that the workforce was typically young and we did have a good time, but as the years went on, the night shift got more difficult. I blame it on getting older and less resilient. When I left the job, I was pregnant and vowed never to work nights again, and I haven't. It does affect your health, and it's really cut out for those who can handle it, which is the younger generation, IMO.

This is why if I'm ever forced to work midnights, I'd seriously consider putting in my 2-week notice. I have a hard enough time sleeping at night. If I were to be forced to sleep through the day I'd be screwed all around :x

    That's what I work. 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm 7 days in a row.

My sleep schedule is definitely wacked out sometimes. I can usually sleep from 8 am to 2-3 pm. I try to do everything like normal. Eat a breakfast type meal when I wake up, eat a couple of small meals while at work and then workout for an hour each night.

I like it because working at night is more money and less work.

I work overnights at a hospital doing security and it is very hard on the body. You never get used to it.

i just read today that night-shift work is linked to cancer.. just thought i'd cheer you up on a monday :|

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

What isn't linked to cancer anymore ?

I did the night shift for almost a year...absolutely brutal

I would get home about 6:30am go right to bed...and wake up some days at 10am and feel like I had slept for hours...your body and mind do some freaky things

I would feel like crashing at about 4am every night and then get a boost around 6am when it was time to go home
