I have read some stories and watched some videos on this. None of it was sourced from the mainstream media, if I remember correctly.
Supposedly, they are not actually coffins, but plastic grave liners that seal air-tight to prevent disease-ridden corpses from a biological weapons attack from contaminating the air supply for those of us that live through it. This is the most logical and sane explanation that I've seen / heard for these.
What disease could be so potent that it is even a threat in dead organisms underground? Doesn't leave much hope, does it?
It's just another shining example of how far our government will go to "protect us" while still managing to scare the ever-living shit out of us. It's no wonder that the Constitution was written to protect us from the government, and even worse, THE GOVERNMENT PROTECTING US.0 -
Roland caught nothing but shit for posting video about this about a year ago.0

I believe we deserve an explanation. Will we ever get one? Probably not until some real pressure is applied.0 -
Here's one possibility from the other thread I was posting on.....
Surely this organization that is capable of doing these good things, and has given all of this time, can take 5 minutes to release a statement on why they have 500,000 plastic containers stockpiled on their facilities.[/quote]
I can't say for certain why they have these containers. I do know that there were lots of dead animals, like cows, horses and such, that were found washed up on the outer islands, in the water etc. Human bodies too. When the storm surge headed back out, it took all kinds of things with it. The Coast Guard and many other organizations spent months cleaning up the water and land after the storm. Not everything and everyone left when the order was given. Tons of folks left their cows, pigs, horses and other animals out to "weather the storm" and still many others tried to stay in their homes. Body bags wouldn't have been feasible for a lot of the lifeforms that were lost. I'm just GUESSING on this based on problems I became aware of while I worked there.
People might also be interested to know that instead of killing herds of cows that owners never claimed, FEMA fed them. No, that doesn't make them heroes, but in my mind it was the right thing to do. All I'm saying is that not everything has a sinister connotation to it. Again, just info based on my experiences. I don't mean to whitewash anything the government does - especially anything resultant of the past 8 years.0 -

That's as good of an explanation as any I've heard, but you're not exactly the horse's mouthIt is a Federal Agency which works for us, we should be hearing it from them.
Still waiting on Glenn Beck to tell us about the camps.0 -
I agree. I'm probably closer to the horse's ass.
I just wanted to put some insights out there. As for the government telling us what they're for - I don't know that we could believe what they told us. I had all kinds of epiphanies during my time at FEMA. I recommend the government experience for every tax payer ..... for a very short period of time of course.0 -
maybe it is for preparation. but why the secrecy behind it? or lack of press releases. a lot of people have kind of taken notice lately, it seems they'd at least tell us what they are for. at least make something up.
it seems strange to be stockpiling these things for "preparation" but I guess that was the problem with Katrina. complete lack of preparedness.0 -
After Katrina they were projecting many more deaths than actually occured. Maybe these were gathered for that.Save room for dessert!0

Another thought - remember all the coffins that were floating down the street etc from Katrina? Maybe they were expecting something similar from Ike, and other hurricanes, that hit the Gulf Coast. All the land masses surrounding the Gulf area are at a low level and with the amount of storm surge we are getting with these storms now, it's probably more feasible for coffins to float out of any cemetary - not just the REALLY low lying ones like in New Orleans. Let's face it, news stories never really show actual devastation and the public doesn't get a clear idea of just how bad things are unless they're in the middle of it. I saw a news show last week that had film of High Island and other outlying areas around Galveston that got demolished by Ike. I really couldn't believe what I saw - the amount of "stuff" that's still out there to be retrieved. The Coast Guard and FEMA have removed tons and tons of debris, but there's still so much out there that's underwater and can't be easily accessed. I don't think people around the country realized it, but this hurricane was a real bitch.0
