Pearl Jam & Rothbury Festival?

edited March 2009 in The Porch
A friend told me her dad saw confirmed Pearl Jam would play that, however we don't believe it. He claimed the news station here in West Michigan confirmed it.

Regardless, I am going for sure. I know that even before the lineup is announced. It's been since 06 since I've seen the band, and while I would love it, i'm not sure if I would enjoy seeing them at a festival. I'll be concentrating on them too much and not on anything else, haha.

Can I look forward to seeing anyone else there, with or without Pearl Jam?

    why? festivals are overrated.
    {if (work != 0) {
    work = work + 1;

    festivals are not overrated.

    but musically, a festival set from a band like PJ will never be as good as a PJ show in a stadium, club, amphitheater etc.

    yea, i'd love to see pj at a festival and ride the high from their set into whatever late night dance party the festival has planned. if pj is indeed announced for rothbury, i'm totally there
    i have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status

    I was thinking they would play Rothbury. There is a lot of buzz about PJ playing Sarnia Bayfest here in Ontario the next weekend, so logistically it works perfectly. It will be nice to see them at some festivals.

    Festivals overrated? Are you kidding me, I saw Pearl Jam at Bonnaroo, quite possible one of the best performances ever. I don't think it would have been the same in a non-festival environment. One thing that was f**king amazing was when Ed started singing Betterman, and gave the vocals to the entire crowd. There was at least 35,000 people there, had to be, it was insane. And you can just see the crowd all the way back. I took a picture of the crowd from up front, and there was no end in sight.

    It had to be more like 70,000, 35K is 1/2 the size of most festivals.

    Mark my words. We will hear within two weeks that pearl jam plays this festival. To clarify, I don't claim to know anyone associated with the band or festival. It's just a gut feeling.

    I've been waiting for Rothbury to announce its lineup because I want to go. It never even occurred to me that PJ might play. That would be cool.

    I'm hoping MMJ or Blitzen Trapper will play it, also the Black Keys or Auerbach on his solo tour.

    Or Down.

    I have been to a disgusting amount of PJ shows and Roo could quite possibly be my favorite. I would agree in most cases that festivals are usually crap but this show was pure magic. The Roo show had more than 1.21 jigawatts of sick Pearl jam energy.

    Roo was an anomaly though. Other PJ festival shows have ranges anywhere from bad to very good, but not too many even came close to being Epic like Roo was. The exception, not the rule.

    Agree completely! That's the thing though....there is always a chance. I never expected them to kill Bonnaroo like they did.

    I would consider going to Rothbury if PJ played. I am already committed to 10KLF but for Panic. I am happy to have a relaxing festival in store as opposed to Roo where there was so much to see and we were running day and night. Pearl Jam kicked my ass and knowing they may play another show like Roo makes me want to go.
    Of course the problem lies with what other shows in the northeast will they do and when??????

    I love going to festivals. I really like the atmosphere at festivals especially being in the very front and everyone being into the music. I don't really enjoy everyone having seats around me, everyone seems a lot more subdued. Although I have my limits, I saw Rage Against the Machine at Lollapalooza, and that was just ridiculous!
