Alright, so the new era of Late Night has begun.

How the fuck did he get this job?? I'll see how the rest of it goes, but this opening monologue is utter shit.

Anyone else watching???

Oh, but he has 'The Roots' as his house band, so thats cool.

That's the only thing good that I see about this show. Luckily they'll be back on tour soon. I'm seeing them in a month :D

Hmmm.....this first game of 'Lick It For 10' was actually pretty amusing.

We'll see how well he interviews.

Robert De Niro is up after the break!

not to divert from the topic of fallon's show (i missed it) but i saw van morrison on regis and kelly this morning singing brown eyed gril...whats up with him? this'll sound insulting if its not true but the dude was singing like he had a stroke or something, like he wasn't even saying the words right. was he like that on fallons show last night?

It's the fault of Wayne's World 2. When Wayne is having visions with Jim Morrison they make you think it is Van Morrison ;)

that was a BAD first show. only funny thing was his "slow jamming the news" part of the monologue--but the dude in the roots who was singing with him was just as funny or even moreso.

i liked the roots being his house band--but isn't this kind of gig sort of beneath the roots?

the rest of his monologue was not that good.

lick it for 10 bucks?!? whats funny about licking a copy machine? not funny at all.

and his interview with deniro? could that have been more awkward?? denirio is notorious for not enjoying talk shows and he normally is a difficult guest to interview. why would they pick him as his first guest?

for a first show it felt as if they were already out of ideas. i fell asleep when that timberlake guy came on. pissed that i missed van morrison sing. but from what i saw----yikes.....

i missed it & forgot to set the DVR. look like i didn't miss much. i'll check it out tonight.

by the way, can anyone clear up the whole Leno thing for me? i thought he was retiring? they announced that Conan was taking over years ago & then Leno decides that he doesn't want to go anywhere? now he has a new show that is on before Conan? i've always watched Letterman--never been a huge Leno fan. what exactly happened here?

hey well late night with conan started out really bad but then got much better. these things take time.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

nbc realized they fucked up and gave jay 10pm...also since nbc's ratings are in the toilet and are losing money, they put jay in the 10pm slot....if his ratings are similar to what they are now, nbc can make some money

I don't get Jimmy Fallon. Never thought he was funny. And my parents thought Jay Leno was funny.

Give me Craig Ferguson any night of the week.

I'm watching it on Hulu now. I don't see him as a "Late Nite" host, but I didn't know who Conan was 15 years ago, so I'll cut him some slack.

Maybe he'll hit his groove....in a few years.

    We can only hope so.

The only thing I could think of while watching it was the Family Guy episode where they go on SNL and Peter gets all mad at Fallon for not being able to make it through a sketch without laughing and looking directly at the camera.

Leno for sure sucks. The jury is still out on Fallon. We need to give him some time to find his groove. If anyone remembers when Conan first started his shows, it took him some time to really find his groove.

Also, I loved that Conan was in Jimmy's very first skit in the dressing room. Just like David Letterman did for Conan when he took over after Dave. Anyone else remember Dave Letterman doing the same thing when Conan first started? He was in the dressing room, or some back room telling him that he could keep some box of jokes or something like that.
