has to be the most depressing song ever!!!! but I love it. :D

"'I've got our love to remember
that will never change
i have you in my head
and no, i'll never hold you
and i'm still asking why
i guess that this is goodbye

my dreams suddenly seem so empty
i could go on my own, but i feel like playin' dead
and for what feels like the first time
i don't know where you are tonight
i guess that this is goodbye

we lived half our lives together
a hundred years is a lot of weight to bear
and the sun, it may be shining
there's an ocean in my eyes
cause i know that this is goodbye
cause i know that this.. is goodbye"
"I'm not present, I'm a drug that makes you dream"

One of the saddest songs ever along with Broken-Hearted. For some reason I always felt like those two songs are related to each other.....And they will always make me remember Santa Cruz....

It kinda seems like the accompany piece to sad lyrically. Great song and very sad (no pun intended). Sometimes I wonder how these songs didnt make it onto an album

its absolute genius piece of writing. add in his really controlled and soft vocals ....its hands down one of my favourite Ed songs EVER.....along with Im Still Here and Dead Man. (maybe i just love songs written in D).

as honest & as vulnerable as it gets. love the fact that its a hidden gem.

I'm guessing Goodbye didn't make it onto an album because it's an Ed solo track and the only solo album he has released was for songs in Into the Wild. ;)

Gotta agree with everyone else on Goodbye though...I love it and totally overplayed it this summer, along with You're True, another Ed solo hidden gem!

I'm pretty sure "Soon Forget" could be classified as an Ed solo tune...and "Bugs"

arc sent shivers down my spine night 1 in nyc. but it doesn't match hearing it one of the nine times it was played in 2003. that was truly moving.

Im pretty sure ed wrote a series of songs on the uke after his divorce. He played all of them, Longing to Belong, Goodbye, Satellite, You're True, and Broken Hearted (maybe others) at a solo show, im sure someone on here was there... I have an amazing boot of the show. Ed's version of Goodbye on that blows the studio version away!
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
