Aretha Franklin Came Into My Work Today

Yep. No joke. Yes, it was really her.

The Queen of Soul herself. I am a host at Applebee's. I didn't even realize it at first because she came in the back entrance. She was there with her family, a lot of people, we had to push two tables together for all of them.

I didn't even realize it was her until she had been there for a while. My manager told me to not seat people around her. I'm sure some people probably noticed but certainly not everyone. Nobody bothered her as far as I could tell.

They stayed a long time and when they left, they ended up walking towards the front to exit, including Aretha herself. She walked right by me, looked RIGHT at me and said, "Thank you, bye."

I was kinda tongue tied so I just smiled. The Queen of Soul herself looking in my eyes and thanking me. And I didn't even seat her or serve her! :D

Pretty much made my day, just thought I'd share.

    She was wearing a white hat but not that specific hat.

    I was surprised at how good she looks in person and how tiny she is.

    oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    To answer some questions:

    Did this happen in Michigan?

    Yes it did.

    Did I offer her a car wash?

    No. Haha.

    Why did I describe her as tiny?

    Height wise is what I meant. She is really short. Yes, she is slightly overweight but truly, not as much as you might think. Television definitely makes her look larger.

    What was she doing at Applebee's?

    Hmm, that's a tough one. She appeared to be sitting down with her family and enjoying some food.
