Maybe not , BUT..... It does show 10C as being fairly reasonable with this whole thing.

It just serves as a reminder of how lucky we are that Pearl Jam gives us so much for such a reasonable membership price. I think I heard that you have to pay that u2 online subscription cost just to get access to official lyrics....

I can imagine. I've been in the U2 fan club since it was Propaganda in 1991. The initial fee to join is $50, but the annual renewal fee is $32. The two disc set they release each year to members is pretty cool and you also get ticket pre-sale opportunities. If I recall, show tickets are also cheaper for fan club members than they are for the general public. I believe my two tickets to the Omaha show a couple of years back were $47 each.

  • Oh, how I love the Ten Club...

...the thing is, they probably could raise it to $50, throw in a disc a year of Rarities, or like a limited release Vault show, on top of the newsletters and Xmas single, and pre-order opportunity, ad I'd pay it without thought, and still be 2 years ahead on my membership like I've more or less always been...

...I mean, when it comes down too it, they get most of my money now anyways :D

With the renewal special of $32 you get the double CD mentioned above and pre-sale access
for the announced tour, but you also get a 25% off coupon code for any full merch order on
U2.com any time during the year.

    Well worth $32, IMO.

Do you guys get seated by seniority as well? I mean are the tickets purchased by u2 fanclub members good seats?

When they were sold thru Propoaganda, you avoided fees and such.
Since Fanfire took over prior to the Vertigo tour, you only get a presale access code (2 last tour for former Prop members after the first round of US presales were f'ed up by Fanfire, which was nice, got me an easy pair of GA's for the fall leg), and pay the same as everyone else for tix.

Back when tix were sold thru Propaganda, all the seats were very good, or GA on the Elevation tour if requested.
Its now just a preasle thru TM (think VFC tour for 10 clubbers).

I just got that email from U2.com too. I always thought their fan club was more since the Vertigo tour? Wasn't it $100 a few years ago, and people were plopping down $100 just to get a code to either sell the code on ebay, or use it to buy tickets and then sell those for way more than $100 profit? Or am I imagining that?

$50 doesn't seem all that bad to me. Check out that 2-CD set you get as a member. There are a ton of b-sides on there that were "album only" downloads on itunes...if you re-bought the entire U2 catalog for $150 or something back when they started their hook up with itunes a few years ago. But, for $50, you know their ticket sales are NOT like PJ's, you have a tiny chance at battling it out with thousands of scalpers on Ticketmaster when that onsale hits and you and everyone else have the special code. Although, it doesn't really matter for this tour much since they're only playing STADIUMS, so you and every other U2 fan (minus a few thousand in the front) will be stuck in your newsbleeds in 60,000 people football stadiums. Yuck.

PJ is a bargain compared to most fan clubs, bottom line... Just for the ticketing options. We really don't get that much stuff in return. One newsletter a year (usually) and 2 songs on vinyl. DMB or U2 give entire concerts on CD, or tour highlights or whatever, every year.

    I can't complain about PJ's prices or U2's prices.

It's a fair price. Considering how many people sign up just for the tickets, it wards off a lot of those people who are too cheap to fork out the cash. Otherwise public onsales would not be necessary. On top of that, the fanclub cd and 25% off is worth it. Tough to shell out the cash, but worth it.

No its never been that much. I've been a subscriber since Just before Atomic Bomb came out and I've NEVER paid that much. $50 is only your first year then its $32 after...and in addition to the really sweet free gift you get every year they give you a 25% off voucher to use in their online shop (can't use it to renew your membership though). I got GA's for the Toronto show with my presale code really easily. To me, a diehard U2 fan...its WELL worth the $32.
Is it as good as Tenclub?? Hell no, but its not a BAD deal either.
