so, I knew

I knew the words
that fell from
your fingertips
the ones spread
across the screen
hearing them
from your lips
meant more to me
than the sun
that rose from
the clouds

only you
would be able
to distract me
from the dawn
and draw my
attentions to
the woods
where the
animals roam

we can
always think
'what if'
things were
different
would there
be something
for us...

well?

    could we trust ourselves
