My Ten Super Deluxe Help Thread :)

Hey guys, somehow I can only post with this weird name, but my real name on the forums is Insignificance792 (if anyone knows how to link my 10C e-mail with my forum e-mail that would be so helpful :)

Anyways...let's get on with it.

I got into Pearl Jam with the help of my sister. I'm 17, and she's 27. She's much older than me and was 9-10 when Ten first came out. Ever since she's been a complete and total fan of PJ. It's even influenced me. she took me to my first and second PJ concerts, and they were absolutely amazing experiences. I thank her for all that she has done for me (besides showing me Pearl Jam) because she is a completely amazing person.

Well at the beginning of April, her birthday and her graduation from Mass. General Medical School (when she becomes a Nurse practitioner) both fall on the same day. I was looking for the perfect gift. A couple weeks ago, her and I started talking about the Ten Super Deluxe edition and what it came with. She was so excited, but when she heard the price tag. I was planning on getting it, and already had $40 of my own money saved up, $100 to go.

Well since she can't afford it due to student loans, bills, and all other expenses, I have decided to get it for her. I'm using the money I have already saved up for my own copy to get it for her. The amount she has done for me is worth so much more than $140.

However, I ran into another dilemma. being 17 years old with a part time job at Papa Gino's, money isn't that easy to come by. I also just paid for my car and insurance. Plus I need to save up for college and all that jazz.

This is why I need your help. I know everybody on the boards is so thoughtful and helpful (demetrios comes to find). People always do things for each other and I thought, not to be greedy, but to ask for your help.

I'm not asking for much, between a $1-$5 donation (if that much) from as many people as I can get it from. I just hope to come closer and closer to the cost of the Super Deluxe Edition of Ten, because she really does deserve it. If multiple people pitch in just a few dollars, I could get her that as a gift for all that she has done.

Thank you so much for everyone who took the time to read this. Maybe you won't donate, maybe you'll think I'm a jerk for posting this, maybe you'll think I'm selfish. I truly hope not, but in any case thank you for time and consideration. If enough people respond positively I will put up more information.

    I gotta tell you Joe....I totally wish you luck on getting the money together for your sis, which is really sweet. But I am a mum of two who couldn't afford the super deluxe. So I washed and detailed cars to make some extra $$ for it. I also sold some of my thing that were laying around the house that I knew would be worth a little something. I understand being broke, but i don't know you from Jack. There are definitely some fine and giving folks on this board who might donate to your "cause", but I suggest finding odd jobs and such...you might have more success that way.

    Anyway, think outside the box! Good Luck, Joe. :)

    Believe me, I know everyone on the boards won't donate, and that's perfectly fine. I understand that I won't get to my goal by relying solely on the board members generosity. But thank you so much for reading and thinking of other suggestions for me. I appreciate it a lot.

    with the economy the way it is do you seriously have the hubris to ask people to buy you the "SUPER DELUXE" edition? why don't you just buy the regular edition. this thread is kinda pathetic.

    Please refrain from negative comments. If you don't agree with my actions that's fine, but don't blatantly call me pathetic. Please. I am also not asking for the whole $140. I'm asking for $2 or $3 dollars, the same amount as a coffee from Dunkin' Donuts, maybe even less. If you don't believe in this turn the other cheek, but do not put me down.

    not putting you down but you should think before you post and have a little tact. everyone is hurting right now and you're asking the good people on this board for a handout so you can purchase something that many deem extravagant (which is why they opt to settle for the regular version or the deluxe edition). have a little class.

    Have a little tact? I tried to make this seem as non obligatory as possible. I blatantly said if you do not agree with me, that's fine. I do understand. I was just thinking that maybe people would be willing to donate $2 or $3 dollars. I'm sorry if I offended anybody in posting this, thinking me not having a lot of money as a 17 year old was important than anybody, that truly was not my intention. I thought people would maybe understand where I was coming from but I'm sorry I assumed wrong. But I don't think that makes me classes-less.

    No dude , most of us understand where you are coming from. Just a bad time is all. Sometimes sucks to be a "grown up" almost makes me wish I was 17 again. But that wouldn't work , PJ wasn't born yet!!!


    Also Email ten club about syncing your accounts. should respond pretty quick.

    Thank you so much. If not many people respond, this thread will fall a couple pages pretty quickly and people won't be bothered by it. I'm sorry for anyone I bothered by posting this. My intentions were truly good.

    I never realized demetrios was doing his contest. I wish I could have entered that. Tough luck I guess.
