This is an observance in the Lutheran faith as well, so I will be giving up my Diet Coke (and all other pop) as well as candy for Lent this year. Last year it was all sources of caffeine, including chocolate. I guess I like reflecting on all the blessings I really do have when I have to consciously not get something I'm used to. I almost bought soda twice today and caught myself.
I'm afraid if I gave up caffeine I really would be on the road to hell in short order!

I think the hardest thing I ever gave up was caffeine. I went through serious withdrawal and people in my old office stayed away from the first week or so. I had the shakes and got really pale for a few days.

I used to average 3 cups of coffee and about a 6 pack of soda a day so I was really hooked on the caffeine ... lol.
The caffeine was really hard, but I am finding the soda harder to give up!! At least when I gave up caffeine, I had non-caffinated sodas :(

    What a ridiculous concept. : mad :

P.S. I absolutely hate the supposed "mad" smilies....but there's no smiley to convey that....just the "evils." : mad :
