He is right about one thing. A lot of Pearl Jam songs don't have a recognizable chorus. Just saying.

  • Oh how I love the 'hip and trendy' attitude to Pearl Jam! It fills me with such pride in the current music listening public!! Oh the joy it spreads! and the fine educated years of experience obviously billowing out from the scribblings of, lets face it, a complete genius who has so blatantly given Pearl Jam a chance outside of Ten and Vs!

Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
  • That actually made me smile...

I don't think this is the same person, maybe, but her MSNBC bio says nothing of a Washington Post contributor.

    Vitalogy? No. Binaural? Yes.

Heaven forbid anyone write an article criticizing Pearl Jam. It's not like it's news that this band hasn't done anything of interest to most of the record-buying public (the people this article was written for) in 10 years. There's a reason 2/3 of their greatest hits album is composed of stuff no later than Vitalogy... with the last 1/3 being divided amongst 4 albums and 3 one-off singles.

How is it that nobody likes Pearl Jam anymore according to these posers and yet I still have to give my firstborn and a limb in order to get a halfway decent seat for their shows? I am just anxiously waiting for that day when millions of those who are "forced" to attend Pearl Jam live shows will finally say no and us losers who are "still" into Pearl Jam will not have to shed our blood for those tickets.

ah, you know, some of us like jazz, some of us like classical, some like hip hop, some like country and some of us like cranky hippie music with no choruses. i often get looks because my car is plastered with Pearl Jam stickers. but that's just me being me.

I don't think anything is going to change for Pearl Jam in the public eye. Most people think Jeremy was the last song they put out and I think that is the way it will always be.
"All I Ever Knew" available now in print and digital formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.

Well then, those "most people" should stop trying to get tickets to our precious shows :)
