Just had a phone call from a catalogue company - apparently someone's been using my name and old address to order hundreds of pounds worth of stuff :evil: . I haven't lived there sine 2006!

Have to go to the police tomorrow to try and sort it out, hope it doesn't have a bad effect on my credit rating!

P.S. Now I'm worried because I didn't cancel Littlewood's catalougue delivery before I left. :shock:

Thank you - just needed to vent! Hopefully everything will be fine - luckily I still have a bill from the council stating I left the address back in 2006 and quite a few receipts/bills with my new address (from way before they ordered the stuff) so that should be enough proof for the company.

I'd drop them a line just to be on the safe side - although the area you were living in wasn't anywhere near as bad as the area I left so I think you'll be fine! I sold my flat to a house letting agency so God knows who's been living there!

Please let me win the lottery and move to Canada !!!!

Ta! The broon is going down fine :P

I got a tonne of mail from previous occupants at my flat. Thankfully I'm an honest person so I destroyed anything (bill-like) with their name on it. Almost ripped up a cheque to the owner of the flat one day :? I finally got tired of dropping off mail with with the wrong address after about three months :roll:

Just heard back from the company and they 'believe' it wasn't me who ordered the goods so are taking it off my credit record.

Now I'm just worried who else these people have ordered stuff through that I don't know about :( .

The scary thing is with most catalogues over here all they need is a name and address - so technically if any old junk mail gets delivered to an old address of yours someone could try ordering stuff in your name - especially if the company they're ordering from are more deparate for sales than actually checking who's making the order.
