Just A Girl instead of Brother?

Obviously I have not heard the remixed version of Just A Girl, but as far as the old versions go, I was a bigger fan of that song than Brother. Does anyone else think Just A Girl should have been the single? It is a little surprising they went with Brother anyways, after it almost broke up the band and Stone, as of 2003, still didn't like it.

i'll jump on that train.... i have always loved "just a girl"..... especially the way it goes from the loud 1st chorus to the quiet 2nd verse... a nice dynamic move....

i do like brother, though... but i like "just a girl" a little better...

I' with you. When I first read that Brother was going to be released I made the comment that Girl probably would have been a better mainstream radio success than Brother.

  • I'm just wondering which version of Girl we're gonna get. I've always thought the version from the First Week Rehearsals was much better than the one that was on the lost dogs outtakes leak. And since they're putting Goat out there, I'm assuming they must have access to the originals of First Week Rehearsals (I can't honestly imagine them doing more than 1 take of that one :) ).

I just hope beyond hope that Ed doesn't decide to revise history and screw with the rest of the bonus tracks like he did with Brother.

Does anyone else think Brother has the sound of "dirty frank" to it?
