Hey guys - any chance you could clear up the Brother debate for us, is the 'new' radio release version a remixing of an old audio track or a rerecorded version for this release?

Who woulda thunk it'd cause so much debate :o

  • When I first heard it on the radio today, I thought it an old recording. But the more and more I listen to it, I'm starting to think it's a re-recording. The 1991 demo we all know had some indecipherable lyrics during the verses and this new vocal is not only crystal clear, but some lyrics seem to be changed. So if there was a recording with such a perfect vocal track, why isn't that the one that circulated with the rest of the Ten demos? Unless it was recorded after the demos...but by then you'd think they would have already given up on this song.

    Whatever it is, I like it. I don't cry foul at re-recording something for this sort of compilation. It's not like churchin' up live recordings in the studio like some bands have done in the past. Now that's a rock n roll sin.

  • I can't believe they kept the damn fade out! This will always hold Brother back in my opinion.

    Sounds like it was rerecorded to me, or Brenden is just God. :D
  • If they had an old Brother vocal track just lying around wouldn't it have been on Lost Dogs?!
    New screenname for the new site. At least for now. Previously Lackofdave

    I think I read something stating that Ed wasn't very happy about the lyrics when they were discussing its inclusion on LD. And with Stone and Jeff fighting over whether or not the song should be included at all, I think they just compromised on the instrumental track.

  • Also Mods can you provide us with the lyrics to Brother??

    The lyrics that I found on the internet are not accurate. Please help!!!

    I could be totally wrong but I thought this song was recorded in 1991...not re-recorded recently. :)

    No way are those vocals new... Ed couldn't sound like that today no matter how they tried to pro-tool it.

  • Quick question, and please don't flame me for this. Earlier today at work, I noticed that someone posted mp3s for all of the 6 songs posted on their myspace and home site; I couldn't download since I was on a work PC. Was this thread removed??
  • you've peaked my curiosity...have we an answer?

    you mean your curiosity has been piqued?

    work = work +1;
    }system("pause");
    return 0;}
