I just made homemade chili, with freshly baked corn bread muffins. The chili is hot and I topped it with just sour cream and shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Tall glass of ice-cold 2% milk to wash it all down.

Mmmm, holy shit was it amazing!! I've got plenty of leftovers; who wants a bowl?

That is one of my favorite winter meals, what's yours?

    I'll take a bowl

Similar to how I like my chili, Although if you serve it in a Bread Bowl and a slice of Avocado on top, it's just that much better. :)

Chili is hard to beat in the winter. Or at the beginning of fall, just as it's starting to get cold. Set down in front of the TV with a big bowl of chili and a college football game. That's a hard act to follow.

a nice roast beef, slow cooked all day
    roasted root vegetables
    mashed potatoes and gravy
    warm spinach salad
fresh apple pie with real whipped cream

    and a nap

nothing beats a pot of something simmering on the stove on a cold day.
    Nice shirt.

Here you go, help yourself to the cheese and sour cream. :)

Avocado on chili, huh? Never tried that.

A friend came in off a crab boat last week and came over with a trash can full of dungeoness(?) crabs. We boiled them up in a pot out on the deck on a clear Oregon winter night and had our fill. What a good time.

I have taken to broiling my chili in a Dutch oven. If you haven't made chili this way, it is amazing!!! You get the nice blackened edges on all the vegies!!! Yummy! The last batch I made was when we were taking down the Christmas tree and making up crass lyrics to The Twelve Days of Christmas... Good times!

    baked tofu
    homemade bread or muffins
    apple crisp for desert

It's funny because before i opened the thread, Chili was the first thing that came to mind. I like mine with just the shredded cheddar.
