Am I able to retrieve my original 10-Club membership number?

Hi Folks!

I joined the 10-Club somewhere between 1995-1996 just in time for the No Code tour. I let it lapse (damn!) and ended up joining again. I'm not complaining about my current number; I actually am pretty fortunate, but I was wondering if it was possible to retrieve my old number. The reason I ask is because I have been told it is possible and it isn't possible. I don't want to bother the folks at 10 Club with this. Just thought I would give it a shot.
Can't wait for the rerelease!!!!!!!!
I'll take the Pearl Jam album 10...and Super Deluxe It!!!!!!!

i doubt that anyone here has the authority to give you your number. (no offense, all!) so, even though you don't want to bother the 10c about it, you may have to. how many months/years did you let it lapse? if it's just a matter of forgetting to renew by a few weeks (maybe months), they might be able to help you. if it's longer than that, you might be s.o.l.!

i think the current policy gives a grace period of a month or something. a few years back they had it so if you could prove what your old number was (like if you had an old newsletter w/ your number on it), they would give it back to you, but I'm not sure about that anymore. i guess i would try emailing them, but i doubt they would allow it.

    90 days,...

while on the topic of membership renewal, i renewed my membership online last week and noticed my expiry date on my profile was immediately updated which is the 1st time i've seen the process automated as far as my experience goes with renewing online every year, so KUDOS to the 10C!

I agree - that wouldn't be fair. But they won't do that, there is a pretty strict 90 day grace period.

As for your situation, sorry to hear about your mom. But I am sure you can understand why the 10C didn't transfer her number over to you.

    Really, I don't understand why they wouldn't.

I originally joined in '93 and allowed mine to lapse. When I rejoined I asked about my old number just out of curiosity and they told me they had no record. It was when membership was only $1 on the back of Ten.

    Membership Renewal Policy

The definition of the Ten Club membership renewal policy states a membership is considered delinquent on the exact date of expiration. For 90 days after the date of expiration, the membership remains delinquent but is available for renewal within this grace period. During this 90-day grace period the original membership may be renewed and all seniority will stay intact.

Renewal notices are sent out via email at the beginning of each month to all memberships that have become delinquent in the previous month, allowing each member to renew their membership within the 90-day grace period and maintain their seniority.

NOTE FOR NON-DELINQUENT MEMBER RENEWALS: Please login to your member account before renewing. Failure to do so may result in creating an entirely new account and all seniority may be lost.

Memberships that are delinquent for more than 90 days become non-member accounts and the former member will no longer receive the benefits of the Ten Club. Delinquent accounts can be renewed by logging in and purchasing a new membership. Although the Member profile and account history will remain in tact, a new member number will automatically be assigned and all seniority will be lost.

Members who wish to retrieve their original membership number that has been inactive for a duration of time, will need to provide valid reasoning for their delinquency.

I've heard if you had sent a letter, or anything year's back to the 10club (not related to an account) you were assigned a 10club number anyway's. Wish that letter I sent back in '91 counted!

I tried a few years ago, when they were allowing it. I had been a member 95-98, let it lapse, and actually had proof of the old number, via a mailing label on an old newsletter. But they still wouldn't do it, when people around me were having theirs reinstated. Sucked, but oh well. I married up in the club! My husband's number is about 70k lower than mine! :D

while it seems HIGHLY unlikely an all-purpose membership number would have been created based simply on a fan mailing a letter into the 10C (you have to keep in mind, in the early days there were literally only a couple of people running the 10C) it's common knowledge that when a goods order is created by a new customer a 10C number is assigned to his/her 10C account for future reference; however, that number isn't granted membership status unless full membership is purchased and activated. for argument's sake, some time may have passed between when the original order was received and when the membership was purchased but the original membership number assigned would have been used even if it was elevated to full membership status a year or two or three after the fact,...

you'll need to elaborate on this point for me: if the membership was in her name, how was it your number, from a 10C membership status viewpoint? i understand the point about you not having the means to make payment in your name to the 10C.
