I'm still re-using plastic bags when I go grocery shopping, but was thinking of order a few of the Tote Bags that are for sale so I can carry my corn dogs home in, because they are sweet! My only questions are... for those who have them already are they strong or do they tear easily and can they carry a descent weight amount??

  • I have one that I got at bonnaroo, and they are pretty sturdy. They could a decent amount of stuff, just don't go crazy and put like 20 pounds in there.

I bought a few of the 10C tote bags and I am not very impressed. They are small and can't hold as much in them as I expected they would, or as much as most of the reuseable bags that you can buy at grocery stores hold.

LOL. You'll have to request that the 10C makes construction grade tote bags!

    LOL!

I take my school stuff in them, like my book, notebook, pencil case etc, i have a couple of those and a my Morning Jacket one that's exactly the same but it has their name of course in purple rather than red, it works fine too with my school stuff... my Accounting book has over 1000 pages believe me it's heavy!

  • I got one from the summer 2008 tour. It is ok not as sturdy as the reuseable bags that they sell at the supermarket. I have not really used mine much. I plan on using it during the summer when I go to the beach or to the pool to carry my beach towel, etc. I would not put anything too heavy in it.

they are about as sturdy as the reusable grocery bags sold in stores, but they do not have a seperate "bottom" all the bags I have from grocery stores have 4 sides and a bottom, the PJ one just kinds stich togeter at the bottom, so there is no flat surface..... they look WAY cooler than my albertsons and fred meyer bags though.
  • I've gotten a few of these. They're definitely smaller than most grocery store reusable bags and, as someone mentioned, they don't have the rectangular bottom that is sometimes useful.

I think they're kind of hit and miss. I'm a teacher, and I use mine to carry around papers to be graded, textbooks, etc. The first one I used lasted a good 3 months (I use it daily, and it's usually pretty full). Eventually one side of one of the straps snapped off, so I bought another one.

The second one lasted all of one day. I put a textbook in it (albeit, a very heavy textbook) and it tore a hole straight down the front of the bag. :(

I'm on my third one now, and so far it's held up great through a couple weeks of use...

The bags are fine for shopping and light amount of things. Just don't put a cinder block in it, or the special of 20 soup cans for $20. A couple cans, with some fruit, some bread and a roll of paper towels will be fine.
