Bon Iver's new EP

I am really enjoying it so far.
The song, Woods remindes me of Fleet Foxes Sun Giant. It's just raw to me :P

"Blood Bank" rocks my face off. I'm loving this song, and it's got a really great vibe live. I heard "Babys" for the first time live and it really clicked with me, how simple it was..
I haven't gotten into "Beach Baby" though..

Is that the song with no music, just distorted vocals? My gf bought the ep and I liked it but hated that song... reminded me of Kanye's album. What is it with everyone these days thinking they can just talk into a pro tools computer and try to pass it off as a song?
The rest of it was pretty good though I thought.
Yeah, just
"I'm up in the woods
I'm down on my mind
I'm building a still
to slow down the time"
over and over.
And he did use an autotune, so that would explain the Kanye-esque of the song... haha

"Hopefully, people will recognize that auto-tune is a legitimate musical tool whether it is used by Weezy or Daft Punk. More likely though, these Think Coffee lovers will find some way to explain why Bon Iver uses it correctly, and T-Pain does not, and it will probably involve the word “experimental.” But seriously, if you were to replace the lyrics “I’m up in the woods” with “I’m up in the club” this could be a Teddy Pain joint."

Sounds about right. I've got nothing against the program itself, but you've got to have a song to go with it. That's why Daft Punk can play with it and have it kick ass, and why Kanye and Bon Iver just release boring and pretentious songs that are little more than mediocre poetry slam readings set to tape.
He's really not as pretentious as he seems, I swear.

Well, like I said, the rest of the EP sounded pretty good. I would have just ignored and forgotten the last track if not for the fact that Kanye had ruined an album with it too so recently. I'm just afraid there's some shitty trend in the works
I feel like these guys have some great b-sides that never made it to the album.. The b-side to "For Emma" is very good also. It's called "Wisconsin". I'm quite fond of it.

You've got a lot of hometown spirit it seems.
I'm going to see Ray Lamontagne in Milwaukee in April. I'm going to turn it into a road trip... maybe up to Minnesota even. What should I do in Milwaukee? All I know of Wisconsin is the House on the Rock and UW-Madison.
There aren't that many things to be proud of from this neck of the woods (literally) so I do take considerable pride in the good things.
Mikwaukee on the other hand sucks. I'm like 4 hours north west of Milwaukee and avoid it at all costs. If you're just in Milwaukee hit up a brewery tour or two. Brewer's home game at Miller Park if it lines up...it's a very nice stadium.
Madison is a much more interesting city. It's got good character. Although I'm much more partial to Minneapolis/St. Paul as far as nightlife/good times goes. They have a couple of really nice museums and of course the MN Twins.
Did I cover it all? haha, or did I cover nothing?
