Issue with new vinyls
Hey everyone, just searching for a little help. I have recently begun collecting and listening to vinyl. I have purchased new and used albums from stores and ebay. It seems to me that of all my vinyl, some of the new ones seem to skip at random times. and I mean these are BRAND NEW albums. They have no scuffs, dust, dirt, etc. and I have even cleaned some and they still skip. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? It has been 2 RHCP albums, a coldplay album, and a KOL album. Luckily all my PJ has been playing great. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Any warpage?
What kind of turntable are you spinning them on?
Have you cleaned the stylus?
I thought the world...Turns out the world thought me
I'm not NASA engineer, but I'd suggest that the constant in this equation is the record player/stereo system and not your records. Someone else suggested the tracking force... I think that's a good place to start.
Check this out too...
1. How close are your speakers to the turntable?
2. Is your volume up very loud? Like to the point where you can feel the floor or see things vibrating in that Jurassic Park glass-of-water style?
3. How close is your turntable to the speakers?
The hypothesis: Vibrations from the speakers at times where a lot of bass or loud sound is coming out of the speakers could be making the needle skip.
The test: Try plugging in some headphones to your stereo and watching the needle as it plays. Does it still skip?
Alternate test: Try turning down the volume and watching the needle as it plays. Does it still skip?
If so then it's not the sound vibrations making it skip. Pursue the tracking force or other variables contained within the turntable. If not then figure out a way to insulate your turntable from the vibrations a better way. You can go to Big Box Store or Local Hardware Store and buy some felt pads to put under the feet.
BTW... If you haven't listened to some vinyl on a good pair of headphones you're missing out big time!
Nothing kills a good record player faster than plopping a shitty Coldplay album on the table
some serious *love* going on in here.
That was one question I had , do you think it could be my stylus or turntable? Even tho all of my other albums play perfectly?

That's cool... I'm just going on personal experiences. I recently discarded a Coldplay album and my quality of life improved dramatically. Just trying to help out...
Agreed....
Coldplay kicks some serious ass....they are not in my top 5 but they are up there...
